That’s why it was so important to us to establish Camden’s sleep schedule right out of the gate. I had six different moms telling me ‘Get him on a routine; you will thank yourself later.” (V)

Nick and Vanessa Lachey are not only proud parents to 20-month-old son Camden, they're clearly pretty proud of each other, too.
"My wife's maternal side is a new dynamic to her personality—and it's definitely made her even sexier," Nick shares in the June issue of Parents magazine.
Meanwhile, Vanessa can't help but gush about her husband as well, saying, "I knew the man I was going to marry was not only a great man, a good friend, and a family guy, but he was going to respect and treat me well and be an amazing father and role model to our children. That's Nick."
And while they obviously love being a mom and dad, the two admit that they do look forward to Camden's 7:30 p.m. bedtime.
"We put on some music or a favorite TV show, pour a glass of wine, have dinner—that's our 'alone time,'" says Vanessa.
So, would they consider making Camden a big brother anytime soon?
"We definitely want more kids. You don't want kids to have to share the same group of friends," says Nick.
"But you don't want them so far apart that they have nothing in common," Vanessa points out.
In the meantime, they seem content with just being a family of three for now.
"We're learning together and figuring it out along the way," shares Nick. "At least we think we've figured it out. I guess we'll find out down the line if we screwed up or not!"

See How Big Nick Lachey’s Son, Camden, Is Getting! (PHOTO)
Nick and Vanessa Lachey may have just welcomed their son, Camden, into the world back in September 2012, but time is sure flying. The 19-month-old is already walking, and even talking up a storm according to his mommy! So just how big is this little man getting?
In a recent Instagram photo shared by his 33-year-old mom, little Camden is playing in the park with the family dog and it has to be one of the cutest photos ever. “Puppy love in Central Park,” Vanessa captioned the snapshot.
We have to admit, it looks like the Lachey family is adjusting pretty well to city life. They recently moved to New York City for Nick’s new hosting gig on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live! and they have vowed to “experience it as a family.” Consider it done!
As for Camden’s good looks, we can’t figure out if this little man takes more after his former boy-band father or his gorgeous mom. “People say that he looks like me, but I definitely see more of her everyday — which is probably a good thing,” Nick recently dished to Wetpaint Entertainment.
“I do think he’s a nice balance of both of us, but I’m also horrible at the ‘He’s got your lips, he’s got your nose’ game,” Nick added. “I can’t tell. But he’s a damn cute kid, a great kid.” Judging by this photo, we can attest to the cuteness. We can’t even handle it.

Nick Lachey: Why I Want Another Son – and Then a Daughter

No pressure Vanessa, but Nick Lachey already has the next two kids all planned out.
Of course he’s completely smitten with the couple’s 17-month-old son, Camden John, but Lachey admits he is starting to get the itch.
“I do want a girl,” he told PEOPLE in New York’s Times Square while promoting his new job as host of VH1′s talk show, Big Morning Buzz.
“I think there’s something emotional about having a daughter that I definitely want to experience.”
But on second thought, “Maybe I’ll get one more boy under my belt first,” he says with a laugh. “I’ll need some help to keep her in line, so a couple of brothers couldn’t hurt.”
As for future big brother Camden, Lachey, 40, says he’s in the copy cat phase. “He’s a sponge, a regurgitating sponge! If he hears something, he’ll repeat it 10 times,” the doting dad shares.
And he had a major milestone recently. “He just had his first haircut actually. He has super long hair, and we just let it grow, but it got so long he kept pulling it into his mouth,” says Lachey. “It was out of control.”
Now the tot “has a little part to the side and looks like a tiny school boy.”
The whole family is moving to the Big Apple for Lachey’s new hosting gig.
“We love the city, but we’ve never done it with a young kid,” he explains. “It’s intense when you think about getting your kids in and out of cabs and the traffic. You always have to be careful as a parent, but in New York it’s even more so. But people do it every day, it’ll be fun.”
Lachey says Camden will for sure make a cameo on the Big Morning Buzz.
As for his dream guest? “If my fellow Cincinnati boy, George Clooney, ever decides to grace us with his presence that would be the pinnacle for me,” he says.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Nick and Vanessa Lachey
Nick and Vanessa Lachey want you to know about their four Valentine’s Day cards which can be personalized with photos and text.
They’re available at Treat.com, which has made a contribution to Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center in their name.
Nick and Vanessa say in the media release: “We express our affection for each other often with love and a touch of humor, especially on Valentine’s Day. Our new Treat cards help you express how you feel with a personal touch.”
It also notes that the couple resides part-time with their 17-month-old son Camden in Cincinnati. Vanessa is a series regular on Fox’s “Dads” sitcom (8 p.m. Tuesday, Channel 19). Nick hosted “The Sing-Off” on NBC in December, which he taped after the 98 Degrees reunion tour ended in August.

Nick, Vanessa Back in LA after Christmas break

They spent Christmas with his family in Cincinnati, Ohio.
And after a week-and-a-half in his hometown, Nick Lachey looked happy to be returning to Los Angeles on Saturday with his wife Vanessa Minnillo and their son Camden.
The strapping 40-year-old was spotted carrying his family's luggage as his spouse tended to their one-year-old boy after disembarking a flight at the LAX airport.
The former 98 Degrees singer lugged a collapsed baby stroller over his right shoulder along with a large black bag.
Keeping hold of a hefty piece of leather luggage in his left hand, Nick looked sharp in a newsboy cap and snug white long sleeve shirt.
Completing his travel gear was a pair of blue jeans and brown leather loafers as he hid his highly recognisable face behind dark sunglasses.
Vanessa was a bit more stylish in skinny jeans and suede ankle boots.
Showing her flair for fashion even whilst tending to her growing tot, the 33-year-old sported a black blazer and chequered button down shirt, while her son was cool and casual in jeans and high tops.
Meanwhile, it would not be surprising if the couple expand their brood soon.
Earlier this year, the brunette beauty expressed her desire to have more children.
'I look forward to expanding,' she said during an interview to promote her new TV show Dads.
'We talked about three. I’ve always loved having a big family and truth be told, when I’m old and gray I’ll need a couple of them to take care of me!'
Vanessa wed 98 Degrees singer Nick in July 2011, and the couple welcomed their son Camden in September 2012.
This year, the couple revealed that they plan on raising their son near Nick's family in Ohio.
'I loved growing up in Cincinnati where I'm from. My brother's there, his kids are there, my parents are there,' the former reality star explained to Access Hollywood.
'She's cool with Ohio,' Nick explained. 'We have a place there now and we spend quite a bit of time there when we can, and she also values family and what bringing up our kids there means.'

'The Sing Off' host Nick Lachey talks about love of a cappella as new season to debut

The host of NBC's "The Sing-Off" says its a way to give back to the genre that gave to him.
Nick Lachey has a passion for a cappella — singing without instrumental music — and so, too, it seems, does America.
Lachey is a member of the boy band 98 Degrees that got signed to its first recording contract after singing an a cappella medley in the office of the president of Motown Records.
Pentatonix, a group of five vocalists, won the third season of NBC's "The Sing-Off" and walked away with $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony. Its debut EP, "PTX Vol. 1," charted at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and has garnered millions of hits on YouTube with its covers. The group is touring, including a stop in Tulsa on Feb. 5 at Cain's Ballroom, and recently released the album "PTX Vol. 2."
And "Pitch Perfect," a film about a college a cappella competition, earned more than $113 million at the box office worldwide.
The season four debut of "The Sing-Off," NBC's a cappella singing competition, airs at 8 p.m. Monday on channel 2, cable 9, with Lachey as host.
"You know it's given a lot to me, and in some kind of way this is my way of giving back to the genre of a cappella," he said in a recent teleconference. The show's season finale is set for Dec. 23 with Pentatonix performing.
In this series, there will be no lip-synching, no backup bands and no safety net for the 10 groups competing for the top prize of cash and a recording contract.
"I think it takes incredible talent to pull it off," said Lachey, who reunited with 98 Degrees to produce a new album and toured last summer with New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men. "Oftentimes, people, I think, take it for granted and don't realize how hard it is to do, which is why I feel 'The Sing-Off' is so special. ...
"I think there's such a passion right now out there for a cappella music."
Lachey said at first he didn't know if the series would return for another season, that it had been placed "on the back burner" for a moment.
"I really have to give a lot of credit to the very passionate fans of the show out there for really petitioning and clamoring for it to come back," he said. "So obviously when we got the call that it was coming back on air, we were ecstatic. We all love the genre of a cappella and love the show and really believe in it."
New this season will be a production team headed by Mark Burnett, and there will be more interaction between Lachey and the judges and the groups, he said. Recording artist Jewel joins the judges table alongside Ben Folds (Ben Folds Five) and Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men), who are both returning.
"You'll see as the season progresses all of us kind of taking a turn and mentoring and trying to give some guidance to the groups as they go through this journey. ...
"It was a really cool opportunity for us. We've all learned the hard way — a lot of the time in this business — some valuable lessons. And for us to be able to pass those along to these groups was really cool."
There is also an actual sing-off with the two lowest-scoring groups dueling head-to-head performing the same song. At the end, one stays and one group is sent home.
Lachey had words of advice for those in the competition — and any potential singer, for that matter.
"Work ethic and your desire to go the extra mile can really set you apart and give you an advantage," he said. "On our show, there's a lot of singing in a very condensed amount of time with a lot of pressure.
"I mean, you're on a national television stage and you're singing against some of the most talented singers in the country, and you really have to be on your game.
"And you have to work hard. And if you're not willing to work hard, you're not going to do well on the show. That's just a fact.
"And I think that's true for any walk of life but especially in the music business.
"It's a cutthroat business now more than ever, and you have to do something to set yourself apart from the competition."
For Lachey, the pressure is off when he leaves the stage or the recording studio, but music is always a constant in his life, he said. It's something he and his family share every day.
He is married to Vanessa Minnillo Lachey, who plays Camilla on the TV show "Dads," and they have a son Camden, born September 2012.
"Music, in general, is big in our home," he said. "Obviously, I'm a musician, and my wife is a passionate lover of music. And so there's constantly music in our house — and, yes, we sing to Camden every time we put him down for a nap or put him down for the night. So technically, there's a little a cappella happening in our house every day.
"It's usually in lullaby form, but it is happening every day."
Lachey said he recorded a lullaby record for Camden, released this year. It's called "Father's Lullaby" and contains a song called "Sleepy Eyes."
"That one I kind of wrote while he was still in the womb," he said. "So that's the one I sing to him every day before he goes down. So whether he likes it or not, that's really the only one he gets served up, so he has to like it."

Nick Lachey didn’t have enough on his new plate, being a new dad (son Camden was born in September of last year). The former 98 Degrees singer follows his passion — music — and returns to host another edition of NBC’s The Sing-Off 9 p.m. Monday. The spirited smackdown involving a cappella (aka: no music) groups from across the nation features judges Jewel, Ben Folds andShawn Stockman (Boyz II Men) .
The winner’s not so shabby take-home: a recording contract plus $100,000.
We chatted with Lachey on a recent conference call:
You started off doing a capella. How hard is it?
A cappella singing has meant a great deal to me throughout my life and career. I first started singing a cappella in high school. I went to a performing arts school and spent my summers working at an amusement part in Cincinnati called King’s Island. I was in a barbershop quartet, walking around the park and singing to guests and what-not. I think it takes incredible talent to pull off. Oftentimes people take it for granted and don’t realize how hard it is. There are so many people out there that are responding to it. A cappella is kind of going through a resurgence; a renaissance if you will, with movies like Perfect Pitch.
You went back on the road with 98 Degrees this year. Was that fun and is it interesting to balance your musical and TV careers now?
It was a lot of fun. First of all, you know, to get back together with those guys after more than a decade, and be able to go on the road with New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men and be a part of a sold-out arena tour was very, very special and a great experience. To balance the two, when you’re doing stuff that you’re passionate about and it’s exciting to you, then it’s easy to rally and kind of summon the energy to move from one to the other.
Baby Camden must hear a lot of singing around the house.
Well, music in general is big in our home. You know obviously I’m a musician and my wife [ Vanessa Minnillo] is a passionate lover of music, working in TV for so many years. And so there’s constantly music on in our house and yes, we sing to Camden every time we put him down for a nap or put him down for the night. Technically there is a little a cappella happening in our house. It’s usually in the lullaby form, but it is happening every day.
Does he have a favorite lullaby?
I’d like to think it’s one of the ones I wrote for him. I did a record for him that came out this year calledFather’s Lullaby and there’s a song on there called Sleepy Eyes. That one that I kind of wrote while he was still in the womb. So that’s the one I sing to him every day before he goes down. Whether he likes it or not, that’s really the only one he gets served up.
Can you talk a little bit about the addition of Jewel this year?
Jewel is fantastic. I thought she was a perfect fit. She’s incredibly talented first of all. We all know that. But she’s so well spoken and so relatable. What really struck me is how passionate and how caring she was about each and every group and each and every performer in the group. And she really gave her all in trying to nurture and walk them through this process. Certainly not at all hard to look at from my vantage point on stage. She made my night better just sitting out there.
Are you and Vanessa thinking to expand your family? Would you want a girl this time?
I have no expectations for Baby No. 2 nor do I have any real hope or dreams either way. I think as a father it’s cool to have a son. We already have obviously taken care of that part so whatever comes is a welcome addition to the family. And although I said it’s not going to happen any day imminently, we definitely do want more kids.
You just recently turned 40. How’s that going for you?
It hasn’t changed at all. It’s just a number as they say. Everything feels the same, so no groundbreaking moment happened.

Nick Lachey Opens Up About Fatherhood [Exclusive Interview]
Multi-platinum recording artist and TV personality Nick Lachey recently opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about what it is like to host The Sing-Off, why A Father’s Lullaby, his latest album, “was a really appropriate project” for his fan-base, and how it is a “very sweet, tender, and personal moment” when he puts son Camden down to sleep. He also reveals that he is working on another album!
CBS: Are you excited about the new season of The Sing-Off? How has the show changed or evolved in your opinion?
NL: “I am very excited about it! I am ecstatic that it’s coming back. We’ve already taped all of the episodes, so I can say 100% honestly that it is a great season with a great line-up and fantastic groups. It’s such a fun show, especially around the holidays. It is an awesome show to be a part of, because I am such big fan of a cappella music myself and I know there are so many others out there who love a cappella music. It’s a really energizing show. It’s a great atmosphere, as you’re around so many people who love what they do and love singing.
In regard to how the show has evolved, I think the talent of the groups has gotten better each and every season. I think that it is, in part, attributed to the success of the show; other a cappella groups out there are seeing the show and the success of groups like Pentatonix, who are touring Europe right now and have gone on to do big things. When the show is done well, I think it becomes easier for producers to find great talent out there. I think the evolution of the talent is the biggest thing. Also, we have our first-ever country group in the show this next season, so I think the style of a cappella has evolved a little as well, which is exciting. It’s gotten bigger and better every season, and season four is no exception.”
CBS: Are you good at predicting who will be successful and who will not? What are some of the indicators?
NL: “I am pretty hit or miss. [laughs] In the second season, I picked a group that was eliminated in the first episode. I was not good in that season, but I did pick Pentatonix in season three and I also successfully picked the season four winners as well. I can’t say who they are right now, but I guess I am two for three. [laughs]
The indicators are groups that have a great sound and chemistry right out of the gate. Really, the point of the show is to help these groups evolve. It is hard to tell sometimes, because a group that you think doesn’t have great chemistry could really discover that chemistry as they go through the process of the show. It’s kind of tough to tell, but you can get a feel of the groups that have an unmistakable chemistry and blend. When you find that and hone into it, it’s tough to beat. I always look to the groups who seem like they have multiple voices singing as one voice. If you can hear that and find that, then that is really what a cappella is all about.”
CBS: How has your lullaby album, A Father’s Lullaby, been received? What has the feedback been?
NL: “A Father’s Lullaby has been really well received, most importantly by Camden himself. I made the CD as a tribute to him and it’s been a special project that him and I share together. He liked it, which is the most important thing. It’s also been really well received by my fans who grew up with me and are now at the age where they’re starting to have families of their own. It seemed like a really appropriate project for my fan base and I’ve gotten great feedback. For example, people are tweeting pictures of their babies sleeping to the album, which is always fun to see. There has been a great response from the fans.”
CBS: It’s a great holiday gift for new dads! Please share with all the dads (and moms shopping for dad) out there how this will help them bond with their little bundle of joy.
NL: “I found out last year that for any new parent, one of the most important parts of the day is when your baby is sleeping. [laughs] Aside from being able to get stuff done and get some peace of mind, sleep is such an important part of the baby’s development early on. So the album is my contribution to helping babies fall asleep. Lullabies have been around for forever and have always been a special part of bonding with your baby as they fall asleep. On my album, there are classic lullabies that people will recognize, which have been sung for generations and generations. There are also new, original lullabies that I wrote for Camden. The CD features a mixture of both, but all in the lullaby-arena. The songs are designed to help babies go to sleep, so that parents can have a little break.”
CBS: When we last spoke, you mentioned that you sing to Camden. Do you still sing to him? Does he sing with you now?
NL: “Every day! I literally just put him down for a nap about an hour ago. I sing ‘Sleepy Eyes’ to him every day before he naps and before he sleeps at night. That is one of the songs I wrote for him on the album, and it has become our ‘go-to-bed’ song. When he hears me start singing that one, he knows it’s time to shut it down. That is our special little moment together.
In regard to how he responds to my singing, he likes to kiss me in the middle of it. It is as sweet as can be, but I can’t help but to laugh. [laughs] He will reach out and give me a kiss. He used to just grab my face when I’d sing to him. He doesn’t sing with me yet, but one day we will do a little duet. It’s a very sweet, tender, and personal moment when you’re with your baby and putting him down. I get a kick out of it every time, and it is a very special moment that I look forward to for sure.”
CBS: Has fatherhood changed you? Have you learned anything about yourself?
NL: “Fatherhood has changed me in every way; for every decision and situation I encounter in my life, I now have to consider and I want to consider my child. Your child really becomes the most important thing in your world and in your life. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Every time I am away I am dying to get home. It’s the one thing that motivates and drives everything else in your life. It’s amazing to watch your child learn, as something new happens every day and your child evolves and changes. It’s hard to put into words how much fatherhood really affects everything.
I’ve learned a great amount of patience. I think you do have a lot of patience. For example, my kid can be trying something and he has his own process. As adults, we sometimes expect our children to go with our flow, but it doesn’t always work that way. You have to have patience with everything. You also find yourself having a lot of fun doing stuff that would normally drive you nuts. When it’s your child, you have fun with it and it’s an experience. You cherish every second of it. Camden has given me great perspective and patience, and he certainly taught me another dimension of love that I’ve never experienced before. I’ve learned quite a bit.”
CBS: Any plans for baby number 2?
NL: “We definitely want another baby, at least one more child. There is no immediate plan for it, as it’s kind of one of those things that can pop up at any time. All I can say is that we definitely do want more kids. We love being parents and want a family of more than one child. We will see where that goes, but right now we are just enjoying Camden and everything that comes along with him. I don’t want to rob him of any of our attention by bringing another one in too quick.”
CBS: How do you and Vanessa find time for each other amongst busy careers and diaper changes?
NL: “I think you just have to plan it. It’s one of those things where if you are not careful, your whole life can be consumed by having a child. There is something important about remembering what got you there, remembering your relationship and focusing on it. We make it a point to have at least one night a week to go out to dinner, to a movie, or to a concert to bring it back to our relationship. It’s important to have good babysitters around who can help relieve you when you need a little break.”
CBS: What’s up next for you?
NL: “Right now, I am just getting ready for The Sing-Off and the lullaby album. I am also working on another album called The Soundtrack To My Life, which is comprised of songs that are based on movies that I grew up with. They are soundtrack songs that were benchmarks in my life. I am in the middle of finishing that up. Next year, who knows? I am not sure if 98 Degrees will do another run next summer, and maybe I will do solo music or host a TV show. One of the great things about my career is that it evolves and there are a lot of different aspects to it. I am not really sure where the journey is going to take me.”

Nick Lachey Dishes on His 'Orphan' Thanksgiving
In L.A. this Thanksgiving and still in need of holiday plans? Nick Lachey is your guy.
The host of NBC's "The Sing-Off," which premieres Dec. 9, will be on the west coast this Thanksgiving and he and his wife Vanessa are planning a huge dinner for their loved ones.
"We have some friends, we call them 'the orphans,' who don't have families out here, get together at our place and cook up at turkey," the former 98 Degrees singer, 40, told ABC News. "That's our Thanksgiving tradition."
While his wife serves as the chef for the evening, Lachey does have one important role: deep-frying a bird.
"We do one in the oven and one deep-fried and so I'm charge of deep-frying and hopefully not burning down the house," he said. "I have it down to a science at this point because this is my fourth year doing it."
Lachey, who calls the holiday "an excuse to eat turkey and watch football," will also be spending quality time with his 14-month-old son, Camden, who loves turning on the lights and mimicking what his parents say.
"I told him 'no' once and he looked back and said 'No, no, no, no, no,' so I've stopped using 'no,' and hoped he'll forget about it," Lachey said. "He knows the birds and the trees and what the sheep says and it's fun! It's fun to see them pick up on things and become their own little people."

Nick, Vanessa and Camden Lachey Dress Up in Carnival Costumes for Halloween

got into the Halloween spirit this year. Wearing red overcoats and top
hats, the spouses of two years dressed up as circus ringleaders. Their
13-month-old son, Camden, wore a lion's costume and held hands with both parents outside of the Lachey Carnival.
Vanessa, 32, shared a picture of their festive looks via Twitter on Sunday, Oct. 27. "Step right up and Welcome to The Lachey CarnEVIL! We even managed to tame a cute lion," she captioned.
On Saturday, the actress shared a snapshot of her pre-party prep.
"Setting up for our Halloween party and I'm soooo sick from all the
candy I've eaten!" she tweeted.
Vanessa stocked up on a variety of sweets, including Snickers,
M&M's, Skittles, Butterfinger, 3 Musketeers, Starburst and Ring
Pops.
In addition to celebrating Halloween, Vanessa is also celebrating Fox's full-season pickup on Dads. "Woohoo! @DADSonFOX You make me sooo Happy! I Love YOU!" she tweeted.
Of course, that achievement pales in comparison to Camden's latest
milestones. "This teething thing is no joke.....nobody warns you about
that!" Nick, 39, tweeted Oct .16. "Poor little guy."
Vanessa also has her husband's sympathies. "So, I managed 13 months with Camden and no poop in the tub," she tweeted Oct. 23. "Well... that streak was broken tonight... no pun intended."
