Nick Lachey: Why I Want Another Son – and Then a Daughter

No pressure Vanessa, but Nick Lachey already has the next two kids all planned out.
Of course he’s completely smitten with the couple’s 17-month-old son, Camden John, but Lachey admits he is starting to get the itch.
“I do want a girl,” he told PEOPLE in New York’s Times Square while promoting his new job as host of VH1′s talk show, Big Morning Buzz.
“I think there’s something emotional about having a daughter that I definitely want to experience.”
But on second thought, “Maybe I’ll get one more boy under my belt first,” he says with a laugh. “I’ll need some help to keep her in line, so a couple of brothers couldn’t hurt.”
As for future big brother Camden, Lachey, 40, says he’s in the copy cat phase. “He’s a sponge, a regurgitating sponge! If he hears something, he’ll repeat it 10 times,” the doting dad shares.
And he had a major milestone recently. “He just had his first haircut actually. He has super long hair, and we just let it grow, but it got so long he kept pulling it into his mouth,” says Lachey. “It was out of control.”
Now the tot “has a little part to the side and looks like a tiny school boy.”
The whole family is moving to the Big Apple for Lachey’s new hosting gig.
“We love the city, but we’ve never done it with a young kid,” he explains. “It’s intense when you think about getting your kids in and out of cabs and the traffic. You always have to be careful as a parent, but in New York it’s even more so. But people do it every day, it’ll be fun.”
Lachey says Camden will for sure make a cameo on the Big Morning Buzz.
As for his dream guest? “If my fellow Cincinnati boy, George Clooney, ever decides to grace us with his presence that would be the pinnacle for me,” he says.

Nick and Vanessa Lachey: Cabo Couple with Camden!
Looking to beat the nasty winter weather, Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa escaped to the sun-soaked shores of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico yesterday (December 31).
The “What’s Left of Me” singer looked to be in fine form as he pranced around the beach sans shirt while his 1-year-old son Camden made sandcastles with proud mama Vanessa.
Nick spent the holidays brightening the lives of those around him, including a group of sick children at a Los Angeles hospital.
Lachey sang songs from his album A Father’s Lullaby while wearing scrubs, and an onlooker told press, "The kids had the biggest smiles on their faces, and Nick was so touched by the strength of the children – there was not a dry eye

NICK AND VANESSA LACHEY CELEBRATE FIRST ANNIVERSARY

The expectant parents are celebrating a milestone - the first year of married life!
Nick and Vanessa Lachey are preparing to welcome their first child, a boy, into the world this September but, for right now, they have something else to celebrate – their first year of marriage.
In a very sweet (but modern!) way, the couple expressed their feelings about this milestone via Twitter. The messages were pretty adorable, if not a little corny.
Yesterday, Vanessa wrote: "What a year! Love, Marriage, Love, Baby. Thank You @NickSLachey for constantly making me the happiest woman I can be."
Of course, her devoted husband replied: "@VanessaLachey I love you kid! One down, many happy more to go. Next year, we celebrate as a family! Happy anniversary."
Even though they’ve been together a while, Vanessa explained that things changed after they exchanged vows: "[Being married] feels different because you have this security blanket of knowing your partner and your best friend is there for you forever."
The pair definitely enjoy expressing themselves in a very public way but what can you expect from the host of Wipeout and a former boy bander?

Zoren: Here’s a prediction: Lachey will replace Regis as Kelly Ripa’s sidekick
Prediction: When Michael Gelman and Art Moore announce Kelly Ripa’s co-host, the name they will say is Nick Lachey.
I see “Live with Kelly” just about every day. It is one of my favorite shows, and I love the way Kelly bounced from a wobbly, self-conscious first couple of shows away from Regis Philbin to a confident, buoyant host whose personality and comic timing now dominate the show.
Kelly has been with several co-hosts since Regis departed “Live” in November. Many have been passable. Some have been outstanding.
It looks to me as if producers Gelman and Moore are bringing back the finalists in coming weeks.
I see “Live with Kelly” just about every day. It is one of my favorite shows, and I love the way Kelly bounced from a wobbly, self-conscious first couple of shows away from Regis Philbin to a confident, buoyant host whose personality and comic timing now dominate the show.
Kelly has been with several co-hosts since Regis departed “Live” in November. Many have been passable. Some have been outstanding.
It looks to me as if producers Gelman and Moore are bringing back the finalists in coming weeks.
I am guessing Lachey for several reasons. One is his compatibility with Kelly. Other possibilities like Dana Carvey and Martin Short don’t mesh as well. Carvey because he can’t stop himself from cutting off Kelly in mid-sentence to do a stock bit, and Short because he is not comfortable in a second banana role.
Another is his being based in New York. Short is a California guy, as are other candidates.
Lachey is available. While other great co-hosts like Josh Groban and Neil Patrick Harris have full careers, with Groban’s keeping him on the road and Harris’s demanding a lot of travel and time commitment, Lachey is free to take on a role that ties him to appearing live on a set every weekday morning.
Yes, the 9:58 a.m. end of the work day leaves room for a lot of extra-curricular activity, as both Ripa and Philbin have proven, but one still has to make being in a studio at 9 each morning a priority. Most of the guest hosts are too busy or otherwise committed for that.
Lachey is also quick-witted and great at connecting with the TV and studio audiences. Best of all, he is great at connecting with Kelly. They appear as a team. Neither dominates, although Lachey is gentleman, and scholar, enough to know his place.
I could be wrong, and probably will be, but my gut tells me Lachey will triumph, and I’m sticking with that instinct

Vanessa Lachey's Baby Wish: "I've Always Wanted a Boy First"

In any case, Nick Lachey's pregnant wife revealed on Twitter last night that she did actually have a preference as to what her first born may turn out to be, and you might as well start stockpiling the blue goods now: She's hoping for a boy!
"I'm excited either way!" the mama-to-be tweeted in response to a follower's question asking if she'd prefer a boy or a girl after she posted a photo of a gender prediction test.
"But I always wanted a boy 1st. Just a healthy baby."
And just so there wasn't any confusion, she quickly clarified her tweet: "#ToBeClear @NickSLachey & I are praying for a healthy baby First & Foremost! I just always envisioned a boy 1st to take care of his siblings."
And that's not to say that she wouldn't be just as thrilled with a baby girl, mind you, as that, too, would have its advantages.
But a baby girl would be just as much of a blessing...and she'd have @NickSLachey wrapped around her finger! Haha!"
Vanessa also said that while they haven't yet found out what they're having, they'll be prepared either way, having already decided on a name should they have a daughter, though are "still working on the boys name."
They've still got some time. The 31-year-old only announced her pregnancy earlier this month and isn't due until late summer or early fall.
