98 DEGREES RELIVES THE BOY BAND'S EPIC FASHION FAILS

Some things are better left in the '90s

Nick Lachey wants the world to know that if there are any NASCAR teams in need of pit crew assistance, the men from 98 Degrees "might be available" to fill in.
Just kidding.
The 42-year-old came up with that quick witty comment while standing on the red carpet for the MY2K tour kickoff event in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The party brought together tour mates 98 Degrees, O-Town, Dream and Ryan Cabrera for a quick round of interviews, performances and bites (tacos by Sharky's and fro-yo by Yogurtland).
And to be fair, he wasn't just standing there, Lachey was game with a full grin when presented with a selection of old-school photos provided by Pret-a-Reporter and featuring the throwback stylings of 98 Degrees. Call it a fast round of "fashion police."
Lachey's brother, Drew, 39, Jeff Timmons, 42, and Justin Jeffre, 43, joined Nick at the event, but it was Timmons who had this to say about the all-red coveralls (seen above): "This is the mechanic look. You'll see that Drew only has one glove on a'la Michael Jackson, although his is a baseball glove, not a glitter, silvery glove, and Nick is rocking the frosted tips."
Scroll down for some feedback on two other major back-in-the-day fashion moments of the boy band, famous for their music, muscles and more than 10 million albums sold worldwide.
FASHION POLICE: Jokes Jeffre of the black-and-red ensembles — featuring long-sleeved logo tees and Polo Ralph Lauren overalls worn at a photo shoot in 1997 — below: "First of all, we'd like to apologize to our fans for this one. And we would like a formal apology from whoever our stylist was at that time. That's all I have to say." (Photo credit: Andre Csillag/REX/Shutterstock)
FASHION POLICE: The boys have plenty of room to breathe in oversized suits, which they wore to the Mulan premiere at the Hollywood Bowl on June 5, 1998. Says Lachey: "I am not proud at all about what you see here. We got a deal over in Thailand for some great suits (laughs). The most horrifying thing to me about this is my lack of undershirt — just a chain and bare chest. It didn't catch on the way I thought it would." (Photo by Ron Galella, Ltd./WireImage)
After asking the quartet to take a walk down memory lane, it is only fair to show you what they looked like when we saw them reunite at the April 26 event (seen below). While it's unclear what they will wear on stage for their big summer tour, we do know that you can find specific information on when and where you can see them for yourself live and in the flesh right here.
With 33 dates across the U.S. from July 8 through Aug. 28, the guys won't really be available for NASCAR anytime soon

98 Degrees! Excited Nick Lachey meets bandmates for lunch after announcing comeback tour

SOURCE
By MIKE LARKIN FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

They will be watching what they eat to ensure they can fit into their leather trousers as they prepare to embark on yet another comeback tour.
But perhaps 98 Degrees decided to indulge in a final pre-return blowout after they where spotted enjoying a communal lunch in Beverly Hills on Tuesday.
The band's main star Nick Lachey seemed pumped as he arrived for his meal, though it is unclear whether he was thrilled to be meeting his old friends, or if he was just excited to be indulging in a slap-up meal at a posh eatery

Hot stuff: 98 Degrees star Nick Lachey met with sidekicks Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre for lunch in Beverly Hills on Tuesday

The 42-year-old 90s teen idol was certainly looking trim in a grey jacket, white T-shirt, jeans and black leather boots.
He was joined by old sparring partners Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre, with the latter opting for a dad chic look of casual shirt, blue jeans and boots.

The titanic trio were stuffing their faces at the upmarket Nate'n Al, though he sadly missed the chance to catch up with old flame Kim Kardashian, who had also dined their with brother Rob and his former stripper fiancee Blac Chyna.
However it seems some of the old magic is still there, as Nick was approached by some excited young ladies in skimpy denim hotpants, who begged the obliging singer for a photograph.

So excited: Either Nick could hardly wait to chat with his pals about their reunion tour, or he was looking forward to scoffing some posh nosh
Back in the saddle: 90s heartthrob Nick and his old sparring partner Jeff Timmons looked ready for the stage
98 Degrees, which also includes Nick's brother Drew will come together for the My2k Tour, it was announced on Monday.
The boy band will be joined by Nineties girl group Dream, not to be confused with Things Can Only Get Better legends D:Ream, boy band O-Town and also macho pop hunk Ryan Cabrera.
This will be 98 Degrees' first tour in three years since they joined New Kids on the Block's sold-out The Package run in 2013, which ended the group's 13-year hiatus.
The My2k Tour will kick off on July 8 in Kansas and finish up on August 28 in California
Jealous: Nick appeared to be trying to placate Justin, who seemed a little miffed he was not asked

They were heartthrobs in the '90s and thanks to the huge success of the band Nick found fame elsewhere after their hiatus.
Nick married American singer and actress Jessica Simpson in 2002, however the couple divorced four years later in 2006.
He then married Vanessa Lachey in 2011 and they have two children together - Camden John Lachey, three, and Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey.

Big announcement: The trio and fellow band member Drew Lachey visiting Extra on Monday

98 Degrees Explains the Impact Prince Had on Their Music

SOURCE

As many people in the industry have reiterated following his death, Prince had a profound impact on the music world, including the insanity of boy bands in '90s.
In fact, the guys from 98 Degrees couldn't help but gush about their love for the late legendand how much he influenced them.
Chatting with E! News' Zuri Hall, Drew Lachey said, "Purple Rain's been my favorite song for years. You go back and read our Teen Magazine bios, and I think my favorite song was Purple Rain 16 years ago

He continued, "You look at the way that he didn't apologize for anything. He was just his own artist. He made decisions based on what he felt, didn't worry about anybody else. But he did it without giving away too much. There was as mystery about him. You always wanted to know more about him. As artists, there was just something that was magical about him, you couldn't put your finger on, and everybody wanted to emulate it."
98 Degrees, Prince
However, Drew admits he didn't always have a chance to appreciate that music, especially at a young age when his parents restricted him and brother Nick Lachey from listening to the risque tracks.

"When we grew up, our mom didn't want to let us listen to Prince," he recalled. "But then once you find it your mind is like, 'Oh my goodness! This is what I've been missing!'"
For this reason, Drew says the world will definitely miss him, but he will never be gone. "It's really unfortunate that he's no longer with us but his legacy and his music will live on forever."
Prince died last Thursday in his Minnesota home at 57-years-old.
"It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57," his rep said in a statement to E! News. "There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time."
An autopsy took place the next day, but according to the medical examiner, results won't be available for "several weeks."

98 Degrees Confess They've Hooked Up With Fans (but That's Not All)

SOURCE

Get ready guys, because it's about to feel like 1999 all over again!
The boy band you all know and love, 98 Degrees, took some time off from preparing for their super-nostalgic tour to hang out with E! News, so we made sure to have a little fun with the guys and play a game that surely wouldn't disappoint.
Brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre, and Jeff Timmons sat down and agreed to play a round of "Never Have I Ever" with Zuri Hall, and you won't believe what they confessed to doing!
Whether it was faking lyrics during a concert, getting into it with other boy band members or hooking up with fans (um, say what?!) these guys definitely didn't hold back. We appreciate the honesty, guys.
These four singers, who helped boost the boy band craze to an ultimate high in the late '90s and early 2000s, have teamed up with O-Town, girl group Dream and solo singer-songwriter Ryan Cabrera for one ultimate tour.
Appropriately dubbed The My2K Tour, will stop in 33 cities across the U.S., kicking off July 8 in Park City, Kansas, and wrapping up on Aug. 28 in Saratoga, Calif. The tour originally planned to also make a stop in North Carolina, however that's since been changed due to the anti-gay law that passed in the state.
98 Degrees announced the decision on Tuesday afternoon to drop two North Carolina dates (in Charlotte and Raleigh) due to the state's controversial new law that limits protections and public accommodations for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. The boy band follows fellow performers like Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas and Cirque du Soleil that have skipped performances in the state, according to Billboard.
But before they hit the road, check out the video above to see what really goes down when you're a member of 98 Degrees.

Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - Nick Lachey leaves lunch at Nate 'n Al where ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian was also dining. When asked if he was a Prince fan, Lachey comments, "Yeah we all were. Everyone in music was devastated by that." He also reveals that he had the chance to meet Prince and was "very lucky to have done that."

Nick Lachey's Son Is Not a Fan of His Music! 'Daddy, Stop Singing'

SOURCE
by Sophie Schillaci

Harsh!
Not even Nick Lachey is safe from the brutally honest criticism of a toddler. The former boy bander joked to ET that Camden, his 3-year-old son with wifeVanessa Lachey, is not a fan of his music.
"I sing around the house and my son tells me to stop!" Nick said with a laugh. "He says, 'Daddy, stop singing.' I go, 'Do you understand that people used to pay daddy -- and hopefully will again -- pay daddy to sing? He has no clue. He has no concept."
PIC: Nick and Vanessa Lachey Celebrate Their Birthdays With an Adorable Kiss
The 42-year-old is reuniting with his 98 Degrees bandmates this summer, headlining the nostalgia-filled "My2K Tour." O-Town, Dream and Ryan Cabrera are also on tap to support.
"It's just gonna be a great trip down memory lane," Nick said. "I'm sure we're gonna see a lot of famous faces from back in the day."
"We'll dust off some dance moves," Drew Lachey teased. "That was never our focus, we always focused more on the vocals and the music, but we're gonna put on a good show with lots of energy."
April 3 marked the 20th anniversary of 98 Degrees first signing to Motown Records. Their debut self-titled album was released in July of 1997.
FLASHBACK: 98 Degrees Is 'Definitely Thinking Long-Term'
"It seems like just yesterday, it really does," Jeff Timmons said. "Twenty years has just kinda flown by, but fortunately we still love to do what we do, we still have fans that embrace our music, we're able to do this tour."
"We can still tolerate each other," Drew chimed in, while Nick offered: "We're still immature as ever, so it just feels like yesterday."
"We haven't grown up at all," Jeff echoed. "Not a bit."
Tickets for the "My2K Tour" go on sale beginning Friday, April 29, and fans can definitely expect to hear hits like "I Do" and "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)" when the guys hit the stage. Plus, said Justin Jeffre: “There will be a few surprises.”
"I think probably 'I Do' has been the song that's stood the test of time. It's been a lot of people's wedding songs, so I think that's probably the one that people will say, 'Oh, that song meant to much to me,'" Nick said. "But I think 'Una Noche' is the one people get most excited about in concert. Takes 'em back to 2000."
When the group last reunited in 2013, touring with Boyz II Men and New Kids on the Block, their families came along for the ride. The experience was “more raucous” than their early touring days, Jeff quipped.
This time around, the performers are working on creating a more balanced environment.

"On paper, it sounds like a great idea to have your kids on the road with you," Nick confessed. "In practicality, when you get in bed at 2 a.m. after a long show and meet and greets and the whole thing, and then your son wakes up at 6 a.m. ... It's like, 'Hmm. Whose idea was this?' I mean, it's great in one sense, but then it also makes it a lot easier when it's just us out there doing what we do."

98 Degrees to Headline Nostalgia-Fueled My2K Tour with Openers Ryan Cabrera, Dream and O-Town

SOURCE
BY JEFF NELSON

My2K Tour: 98 Degrees, Ryan Cabrera, O-Town, Dream
GILBERT CARRASQUILLO/SPLASH NEWS ONLINE

Nineties kids, rejoice.

98 Degrees will hit the road for a nostalgia-fueled tour, PEOPLE can exclusively announced.

The boy band will be joined by fellow late-'90s sensations girl group Dream and boy band O-Town, as well as early-aughts breakout Ryan Cabrera on the My2k Tour, kicking off July 8 in Kansas and wrapping Aug. 28 in California.

The 35-city tour is the headlining crew's first in three years, as the "I Do (Cherish You)" singers – brothers Drew and Nick Lachey, Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons – haven't hit the road since they joined New Kids on the Block's sold-out The Package run in 2013, the same year they released their 2.0 album.

The band's fellow touring acts have also been working on new music. After finding major success with "He Loves U Not" in 2000, Dream took a hiatus in 2003 but last year announced they're working on a new album and released a cover of the "O Holy Night" for the holidays.

As for O-Town, who were assembled on the first season of Making the Band in 2000, they also took a break in 2003 before regrouping in 2013 as a quartet, sans former member Ashley Parker Angel. They released their LP Lines & Circles in 2014.

And Cabrera has been making music consistently since releasing his 2004 debut Take It All Away, which went double-platinum. Last year, he released hisWake Up Beautiful EP, and he recently launched Beyond the Sky, a collaborative project in which he's making new music with singers like Nash Overstreet.

Tickets to My2k are available for sale Friday at 10 a.m. ET.

Heartthrobs From Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, 98 Degrees and O-Town Do Battle in 'Dead 7'

SOURCE
by Leena Tailor

They were seen as rivals throughout the era of millennium pop music, and now the ultimate boy band showdown takes place as members of the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, 98 Degrees and O-Town punch, kill and shoot each other in Syfy's upcoming zombie western, Dead 7.
Written, produced by and starring Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, the post-apocalyptic flick follows seven renegades battling a zombie plague and ET has exclusive photos that show the boy banders like you've never seen them before -- as villains, cowboys and western gunslingers.
"The joke was that you didn’t know whether to shoot the zombies or the other guys," laughs *NSYNC member Chris Kirkpatrick about starring alongside his longtime rivals.

Art Alexakis (Everclear) Photo: SyFy

"I got to kill a couple of other boy banders and that was fun," adds Backstreet Boy AJ McLean. "It was like a secret revenge, even though none of us ever had issues with each other."
Of course, what fans are dying to know is, what did a bunch of '90s heartthrobs do together when the cameras stopped rolling?

Actress Carrie Keagan and AJ McLean (Backstreet Boys) Photo: SyFy

"Well, there was nothing to do in Butte, Montana, so we would go to a local dive bar and have some drinks and some laughs," says Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees. "The most memorable moment was when we were all playing video games in Joey [Fatone]'s room. It was a great bonding experience -- we formed a brotherhood based on our similar experiences being in the business and the ups and downs of being in a boy band. It certainly has unique qualities and experiences to it. We had fun at a karaoke night, as well. AJ did an incredible impromptu DJing job!"
That epic karaoke night saw the musicians descending on a local joint, where a few quiet drinks turned into an extraordinary boy band mash-up. In what onlookers described as "once-in-a-lifetime magic," Joey and Jeff joined Howie Dorough to perform the Backstreet Boys smash, 'I Want It That Way.'

Actress Carrie Keagan and 'Rico Suave' singer Gerardo Mejia Photo: SyFy

"Nick and I were sitting there having iced teas, Howie was having water and some of the other guys were letting loose," recalls AJ, who plays villain Johnny Vermillion. "Nick and I got up to do some DJing and suddenly the rest of the guys started coming up and we started singing each other's songs. Some of the guys were singing, 'Backstreet's Back,' and we did O-Town's 'Liquid Dreams.' It was so much fun."

Singer Chloe Lattanzi and Erik-Michael Estrada (O-Town) Photo: SyFy

"But my most memorable day was the first day we got to Butte," he says. "Myself, Joey, Jeff and O-Town's Trevor, Jacob and Erik went to get something to eat and just sat like a bunch of dudes, talking about being parents and real sh*t like that. It was cool to find out how everyone came to be in their bands and Joey said some of the [*NSYNC] guys had really looked up to us. I was like, 'Wow, dude, we looked up to you guys as performers and dancers.' We've become closer now over a three-week period than over the past 20-plus years on the scene together."

Chris Kirkpatrick (*NSYNC) Photo: SyFy

While Nick, who plays hero Jack in Dead 7, credits "not having burnt bridges in the music industry" for allowing him to unite the pop stars, he himself missed out on much of the off-set fun, partly due to finding out that wife Lauren Kitt-Carter (who stars in the movie as Sirene) was pregnant with their baby boy, due on April 12.

Dan Miller (O-Town) Photo: SyFy

“I was wearing so many hats on the film, so it was important for me to be on my game and make sure that I was professional,” says Nick, who developed the film with Sharknado production company, The Asylum. “I was trying to learn my lines, be prepared for what we were doing on-set and getting ready to do Dancing With the Stars. I had so much on my plate, but behind-the-scenes what nobody knew was that my wife was pregnant.

Jacob Underwood (O-Town) Photo: SyFy

“There were things that were happening from the emotional side that made us suspect it initially, then towards the end of filming, we confirmed. So, I was in the room the majority of the time taking care of her!”

Jeff Timmons (98 Degrees) Photo: SyFy

Having received his first video camera while growing up in Florida and directing his sisters and brother Aaron in home movies, Nick always dreamed of pursuing an acting career.

'Just Another Day' singer Jon Secada Photo: SyFy

Due to frequent time away touring with BSB, he was limited to bit parts on shows like 8 Simple Rules and smaller films like The Pendant, so he decided to write his own script which he could star in at his leisure.
It would be eight years and a fan-fueled Indiegogo campaign later before Dead 7 came to fruition on day one of filming in Montana, last August. Blown away by the "wow moment," he remains "in awe" that the film will now be shared with the world. The movie airs on Syfy on April 1.
Nick, 36, wasn't the only one pinching himself during filming.

Frenchie Davis ('The Voice') Photo: SyFy

O-Town's Erik-Michael Estrada recalls the surrealness of glancing around at his peers during a lunch break during a bar scene. "It was the first time a representative of all the groups was there -- Fatone, Kirkpatrick, [Dan] Miller, Carter, McLean, Dorough and Timmons, as well as Art from Everclear and Jon Secada. I sat back, looked around and thought, ‘How the hell did Nick get all these guys to do this!?'"
