Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo strolled arm in arm after grabbing breakfast in LA yesterday. Nick pulled mom-to-be Vanessa close as they walked back to their car. He had a busy Summer appearing on NBC's Stars Earn Stripes, while Vanessa kept working as the host of Wipeout. Nick and Vanessa, who married in July of 2011, announced last March that they were expecting their first child. Vanessa recently said that her due date is in September, and it seems they're sticking close to home until their baby's arrival.

98 Degrees to record again in October

I was talking to Drew Lachey today about preparing for ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars,” and he dropped this on me: 98 Degrees will return to the recording studio in October, for the first time in more than 10 years.
“We plan on getting back in the studio and taking this into the new year,” said Drew Lachey, who sings in the group with his older brother, Nick, and Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons.
The reunion album comes after the vocal group’s two concerts last month, singing on NBC’s “Today” show Aug. 17 and at the Summer MixTape Festival Aug. 18 in Hershey, Pa. The brothers and Cincinnati native Jeffre formed the band with Jeff Timmons of Massillon in 1996. Their last album was “Collection” in 2002.
Drew has been rehearsing here for “Dancing with the Stars: All Stars” with professional dance partner Anna Trebunskaya. They’re heading to Los Angeles later this week to prepare for the ABC premiere Sept. 24 (8 p.m., Channel 9). They guys will record in LA around Drew’s dancing schedule, he says.

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo were arm in arm for a movie date in LA yesterday. They watched The Dark Knight Rises in IMAX and Vanessa snacked on peanut M&M's during the show. Nick and Vanessa have been prepping for the arrival of their first child, with Nick installing the baby's car seat a few weeks ago. Nick's also wrapping up work after reuniting with 98 Degrees for a performance on the Today show and a concert at the MixTape Music Festival last month. The band has plans to record new music, though Nick will first take time off to enjoy fatherhood after Vanessa gives birth

Nick Lachey: "Emotionally Stronger" from "Stars Earn Stripes"
Nick Lachey thought he had the physical toughness to earn his stripes, but he had to discover how strong he could be mentally.
The pop singer-turned-reality-star-turned-TV-host says that he expected his stint competing NBC’s summer reality competition series “Stars Earn Stripes” to challenge his body, which he typically keeps in top shape. But Lachey – who with wife Vanessa Manillo are about to become parents – reveals that he wasn’t quite prepared for how emotionally testing the show would become.
What did you learn about yourself during the course of this show?
I can't remember who said it, but you don't really understand who you are until you push yourself to do things that you didn't think you could do. I guess maybe I learned that I was capable of a little more than I thought I was at times, when it got really, really challenging. There's a moment where you feel like 'I just can't do this anymore,' and as a team you figure out a way to get through it. The camaraderie that develops on a show like this – we were a family. People got eliminated, but you never wanted to see anybody go because you were all such a family.
What’s an example of where you surprised yourself on the show?
I didn't grow up shooting and so that wasn't something that I was familiar with at all – and obviously it's a fairly big part of this show – so I felt like from a conditioning standpoint I could bring that to the table. In the first mission I was able to really kind of help our team with my conditioning. You're constantly surprising yourself. There was a time when I had to rappel off the side of a building and I just didn't think that I had it in me to do that, eight stories in the air and to walk backwards off of a building. You do it together.
What did you learn about America’s servicemen and women?
I had a great respect for the military even before the show, but what I came away with after was respect not only of the military but for who they are as people. These are the best people that you'll ever meet in your life. I really enjoyed the time that I had to talk to them and learn about them and learn about what makes them tick and their families. That was probably, for me, the most meaningful part of it.
Tell me about some of the unique friendships you make after being involved in a reality show like this – people you might not have hung out with under other circumstances?
Typically with a show like this you try to get celebrities of different backgrounds and it just makes it more interesting. I knew some people here on the panel, but I didn't know all of them…I'd never met Todd Palin in my life. I didn't know if we'd have anything in common, necessarily, but man, I came away from this experience thinking that Todd is the best guy on the planet! That was true for everybody: you got a chance to really get to know everybody involved.
Are you stronger now, in all respects?
I'll say this: physically, this wasn't as demanding as I thought it'd be. Emotionally and mentally, it was far more demanding than I ever dreamed it would be. So I think that if I came away stronger in any aspect it was certainly in an emotional sense, in a mental sense.
What was it like coming home to Vanessa when you're working on the show?
It spiced things up around the house. I'd come home dirty, sweaty, grungy. It was exciting. It was a little role-playing action…No! She was very supportive of me doing the show. I would come home and like any spouse I would unload my day on her and it wasn't always a fun day. There was some moments in there if I didn't know if I could do it anymore.
Was this an easy choice, to take this project on?

Having done some USO tours in the past and having gone to Iraq and gone to Afghanistan and spent time with our troops, I already had a great respect for who they are and I like what this show was about. General Clark's point, the idea and the premise of the show, was to raise awareness and raise respect, if you will, for what our men and women in service do for us each and everyday. I was proud to be a part of something like that.

Stars Earn Stripes Recap: Operation Detonation Reveals The Strong Shooters
Last week on NBC’s Stars Earn Stripes, Nick Lachey had a panic attack, that caused him to end up in the elimination shootout withTerry Crews, but luck was on his side! Did Nick survive another week? Let’s just say that when it was time for operation detonation, the strong shooters definitely emerged!
Stars Earn Stripes was back tonight for excitement, err, more of the same ole same ole. Is anyone else getting bored with this show already? I don’t know, the show is just starting to seem a bit redundant to me – same celebs in the top, same celebs in the bottom type of show. Anyway, this week’s mission was rapid detonation, in which the celebs and their operatives’ objective was to take out targets, utilize a military vehicle, and of course, blow things up!
And then there was Todd Palin. Yes, like many, I was unsure of him prior to the premiere, but I have to admit that I am enjoying watching him. Todd has already proved that he is one heck of a shooter, but personally, I am sick of seeing him paired up and dragged down by one of the other contestants. This week it was Picabo, who wasn’t too bad, but I would love to see Todd shoot on his own against the other competitors, wouldn’t you? I think, perhaps, if that was the case, Todd may end up in the top instead of the middle constantly.
Meanwhile, viewers were waiting to see if Nick Lachey would have another panic attack, and while he didn’t, it seemed his anxiousness got the best of him as he was trying to shoot, causing his team precious time. And sadly for Nick’s team, Laila Ali, who admitted to being one of the worst shooters there, was no help as her shooting was downright awful tonight!
So, yes, you guessed it! Nick Lachey would have to endure another elimination shootout this week, with Laila Ali, but would he suffer the same fate as Terry Crews? While it seemed that he was about to, as he struggled to get the sniper shots in this week (after mastering it last week), Laila was just not able to get the sniper shots either, and Nick finished ahead of her. That meant that Laila Ali was the celeb sent packing this week, and quite frankly, she bored me to tears so I won’t miss watching her one bit.

Chatting with Jeff Timmons About the 98 Degrees Reunion & More!

Back in June, Nick Lachey and Drew Lachey announced that 98 Degrees was in fact reuniting for a performance at the Mixtape Festival in Hershey, PA. Tomorrow (August 17), the foursome from Ohio -- Nick and Drew, Jeff Timmons, and Justin Jeffre -- who have sold over 10 million albums, will reunite on stage for the first time on the "Today" show's Summer Series. We caught up with band's founder, Jeff Timmons, on where they've been and what fans can expect!
Everyone is so excited for your "Today" show Summer Series performance on Friday and the Mixtape Festival in PA this week. It's been ten years since you, the Lachey brothers, and Justin Jeffre performed together. How much have you changed since you are clearly more boys to men now than ever?
We are super-excited. I think, if anything, we have grown individually as vocalists and performers, so instead of being a bit rusty, I think we have a bit more flavor.
Everyone has sort of done their own things, some in front of the camera and some behind the scenes... What have you been up to since 98 Degrees split a decade ago?
I'm a big family man, so I've been hanging with my kids. But I've never gotten away from music. I've done some small stuff, under the radar on the solo tip, but mainly been writing and producing records for other artists.
Have you all managed to stay in touch? Obviously you now have families, etc... Has that changed your dynamic as friends and bandmates?
We are all way more mature. I think, in the past, we were so busy that we didn't stop to enjoy the ride. Now that we are older and wiser, we will all savor every moment.
We've seen Nick MC some reality style-talent shows and his brother on "Dancing with the Stars"; Any chance you might take a swing at any reality competition shows in the near future?
I've been asked to do some of them but was usually occupied with other stuff and family but definitely feel I'd be up for it now.
What made you guys decide to ultimately do a reunion? Was it the fans, or did you all find that maybe you guys had time to actually all get together under one roof and do this?
It all worked out timing-wise for everybody. Plus, I think that our fans are really ready for it. Everything is about the right timing and feel.

So, the fans have asked for you to all give them just one more night, and it looks like their wish may be granted. Are the rumors true that you may be making some new music as well? Will it be different from what 98 Degrees fans are use to?
We are going to test the waters with Mixtape and the "Today" show. We're definitely up to do new music. We'll have the harmony-based stuff of course, but we want to do some contemporary, uptempo stuff as well.
People have amazing memories of '90s music, and it looks like a lot of groups are getting back together, like No Doubt and the Backstreet Boys. What do you think makes this era so special?
It was just a great era in pop music. You always have your grunge, rock, and hip-hop cycles, but pop is for everybody. We're just happy to have contributed to such a great time in music history.
