Turning things up 98 degrees for boy bands - Jeff Timmons (Video)

98 Degrees’ Jeff Timmons still wheelin’ and dealin’ in Las Vegas

SOURCE
By

Jeff Timmons arrives at the “Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of” premiere at the Arclight Cinemas - Cinerama Dome on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, in Los Angeles. ...

Jeff Timmons is the member of 98 Degrees who lives in Las Vegas. Thus, he understands how to play with house money — on the tables and onstage.
“That’s honestly a great way to put it,” Timmons says, referring to the boy band that came to fame in the late-1990s and still draws throngs today. “We’re in this thing that was extremely successful 20-plus years ago. Now it’s like, ‘Let’s just keep going with it.’ The only thing now is to have a ton of fun.”
The reunited lineup of Timmons, Justin Jeffre, and brothers Nick and Drew Lachey are playing a holiday-themed show at 8 p.m. Saturday at Green Valley Ranch Grand Events Center. The performance follows the release of their first full Christmas album in nearly 20 years, “Let it Snow,” from 2017. The group also toured a year ago, and might launch a new tour next summer. It just seems the 98 Degrees heat wave never subsides.
“This is so different than what we go through individually,” says Timmons, who has attempted to bring the adult production “Men of the Strip” to residency in Las Vegas. “It’s a lot different than creating something from the ground up — taking the intimidating path like putting up a new male revue to entertain a crowd in Las Vegas.”
While “Men of the Strip” went dormant in Vegas in 2017 after a short-circuited attempt to move into the Tropicana, Timmons remains a popular figure in the city’s entertainment community. Timmons is continually on the cusp of a new production — and expect another in 2019, centered on a new boy-band concept, to perform a showcase in March at Orleans Showroom.
Meantime, he’s cruising with his friends of two decades, still sporting the 98 Degrees tattoo on his right biceps (he had that done when the group signed its first record deal with Motown in 1997).
I asked Timmons if he’d ever felt genuine fear over his safety during the band’s heyday. “It was a crazy time, and we went from not being able to catch a cold to having the fans almost flipping our van over.”
“One girl posed as an NBA reporter and made it into our dressing room with a cameraman,” Timmons said. “She was going to interview us, but then someone noticed that the camera’s ‘record’ light wasn’t on and there was no tape in the camera. The credential was fake. We called security and she had this quasi-meltdown, right there in the dressing room.”
Timmons adds, “The thing about 98 Degrees is, we went through all of that together. It’s more than being business partners, or members of the same group. There is a respect for each other personally, having these experiences. It’s just the course of our lives.”

Men of The Strip takes ALS Challenge, to do shows in Las Vegas

SOURCE
Y MARKOS PAPADATOS

Las Vegas  - The guys from "Men of the Strip" were nominated to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees, as well as the other male revues at Las Vegas.

Three of the lead performers participated in the challenge, Keith Webb, Chris Boudreaux, and Chaun Williams, as well as owner Mike Foland, which took place at Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas. The Dancing Dealers and Dancing Bartenders poured the buckets, containing ice and water, all over them.
Foland remarked, "Jeff Timmons nominated me for it, and a few other people nominated 'Men of the Strip,' so we decided to do it at the Casino that we will be performing."
In return, "The Men of the Strip" nominated Guy from Greenspun Media, John Huck from Fox 5 and Tony Hsieh from Zappos, for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Most recently, as Digital Journal reported, Memorial Foundation Fund was established for Nate Estimada, which preserves and honors the vision of the late performer.
Their upcoming shows will take place at the D Las Vegas Showroom on August 28, 29, 30 and 31, so things will be busy for the guys of "Men of the Strip."
Foland shared that their live shows will span approximately 75 minutes, and they will be adding more fan interaction, with the guys coming out in the audience and doing more meet and greets, and giving the ladies private lap dances. "We are giving the ladies what they want," he said.
"Men of the Strip" is produced by Timmons and Glenn Douglas Packard serves as its creative director.

98 Degrees' Jeff Timmons Dishes That Men of the Strip Is Like Magic Mike Mixed With Sex & the City!

SOURCE

E! turns the cameras on the "Men of the Strip," a new Las Vegas male revue featuring 98 Degrees star Jeff Timmons.

Debuting June 1, Timmons teams up with entrepreneur "Money" Mike Foland and choreographer Glenn Douglas Packard to prep a group of hard-bodied studs for their big Sin City debut.

"These guys have very interesting lives behind the scenes. With this reality TV movie, you get a sneak peek at what these guys are like off the stage," he explained. "Some of these guys are actually shy. They aspire to do different things, including professional sports and acting. It's not all about bumpin' and grindin' -- it has a lot of depth to it."

With nicknames like "Poster Boy" and "Hearthbreaker," there's something for everyone! "When we were in 98 Degrees, each of the guys had their own fan base, so that's what we had in mind with these guys," Jeff said.

Timmons, who describes himself as a "married guy with all kinds of kids," says his wife actually pushed him to do Men on the Strip. "My wife actually encouraged me to do this," he admitted. "She said, 'This could be something really cool for you to create and be a part of.' My kids have seen the show! It's nothing over-the-top and not tasteful for them to see. If it is, they'll turn around!"

Q&A: Jeff Timmons Talks Men of the Strip

His boy-band-meets-Magic-Mike group is coming to the Wilbur Theatre on June 13

Jeff Timmons Men of the Strip
Remember when Magic Mike came out and shirtless Channing Tatum, shirtless Joe Manganiello, and shirtless Matthew McConaughey jogged around on the big screen? Yeah, we do, too.
Here’s alternative option to Magic Mike: a new group out of Las Vegas called Men of the Strip, brought to us by former 98 Degrees band member Jeff Timmons. They’re basically like Magic Mike—but real dudes in the flesh. Timmons’s group of dancers-meet-boy-banders will perform at the Wilbur Theatre in June, where they’ll sing, dance, and take their shirts off for a lady-filled audience. Even better, the cast of Men of the Strip will star in a reality series on E! premiering this summer—so we’ll get to see the men behind the scenes as well, so to speak.
Here, Timmons talks about his admiration for Boston—he’s set up a partnership with Shaw’s and Star Market to help out with One Fund donations—as well as 98 Degrees updates, and his fake stripper name.
In light of your new show ‘Men of the Strip’ coming out this summer on E!, I’ve read that it’s supposed to be like Magic Mike meets your favorite boy band—fitting considering your background in performing with 98 Degrees. But what made you pursue stripping after years of singing and doing television?
I’m actually not the one stripping! For years, I was approached by another band called the Chippendales to come host their show in Vegas. I was really, really reluctant to do it for a long time. But my wife actually turned to me and was like, “You know, this could be a good thing for you to go check out. It’s in Vegas, you’ll headline the show as a singer…” I went to check it out, and after seeing the show—it’s a $10 million theater—it was well-performed, well-choreographed, and the girls were going crazy. So I was like “OK, I got it, I see how this show works.” So the real show isn’t just guys grinding on girls for dollars.
So you aren’t on the stage at all?
I am. I come on the stage at different times, talk about the show, move it along. I’m the emcee, and then I sing. I sing 98 Degrees stuff, and then some of my original stuff in between. But I don’t do any of the choreographed stuff with the guys or take my shirt off—although some of the fans sometimes want me to take my shirt off.
So how did Men of the Strip come about?
[When I went,] I saw [a lot of] girls—and some guys, too—who were fans of 98 Degrees when they were teens. Now they’re in their 20s all the way up to 40s. Those girls were all wild and crazy back then, and now they’re even more wild and crazy when guys are ripping their shirts off. I thought it was a cool thing, but I thought the Chippendales brand was kind of aged, diminished, and had a negative connotation to it, so I wanted to create another one. I wanted [something] cooler, hipper, more about the music and choreography. I started a new brand with Glenn Douglas Packard, who is a world-famous choreographer. And the rest is history—we’re putting together our promotional tour that got attention from E! network.
The dancers were chosen during an intense three-month, cross-country search. What types of traits were you looking for when trying to find the right guys?
What I thought was interesting when I was hosting [Chippendales] were the guys’ live show—how charismatic they were, how different they were, how they interacted. I was looking more for guys with unique personalities than the ripped, buff studs who can dance. [Glenn] found unique-looking guys who would suit girls’ different tastes in men. … We also wanted and were hoping that this thing would be on TV. This was when Magic Mike came out and girls were interested.
All these guys have nameplates like Chris the “Poster Boy” and Dwayne the “Heartbreaker.” But which guy steals the most hearts?
They all really do. It’s almost like a boy band. Nick [Lachey] has become more famous over the years, but when my group was out, every girl had a certain guy [in 98 Degrees] that they liked for a certain reason. So that’s sort of what happens here—there’s different flavors for different folks. Some girls like Chris, who’s the all-American football player guy, while others like Kyle because he’s a stud. Joel is like a Latin lover. Brad is the bad boy for sure. But all the guys are extremely approachable, classy, and friendly.
Garo from the show is from Cambridge, and he’s named the “Boston Bad Boy.” Is he really stereotypically Boston?
He definitely is. He takes the role as the edgy bad boy. He really speaks his mind. The first time I met him, he thought I was going to be some kind of cocky jerk. So I went up to him and he basically just ignored me. And then I started asking him questions and he gave all these wise retorts back. And I was like, “Yeah, this guy’s definitely from Boston.” But by the end of the weekend, we were just sitting there hanging out, and he was like, “You know what? You’re actually a cool motherfucker, man.” But yes, he definitely adds flavor to the cast.
Have you ever looked up your own fake stripper name before?
What is it, your dog’s name and something?
So there are a couple different combos, but I like the one that takes your middle name plus the name of the street you grew up on. For example, mine would be Lee Lakeview.
That’s a perfect name. Lakeview for stripper? Awesome.
Ha! I know, I know, it just suits me. So what’s yours?
Okay, so here ya go. If we’re doing it this way, mine would be Brandon Fontana… It’s a perfect stage name if I ever needed it.
Last year, 98 Degrees went on tour with Boyz II Men and New Kids, and you guys also put out your record, 2.0. Any chance the group will reunite again in the near future?
We had such a blast on The Package Tour. I’m not saying 98 Degrees is over, but I can’t imagine doing a bigger tour than that. We were on a hiatus for a while, and to come back with our idols Boyz II Men and legends like New Kids, selling out a 49-city arena tour—it doesn’t get any better than that. As far as making more music, I don’t know if we’d ever do it again. I never say never, but I’d say for now 98 Degrees ended with The Package Tour. It was the best time of my life.

Men of the Strip’s Boston show takes place June 13, 8 p.m., at the Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. Tickets start at $22. For more info, visit thewilbur.com.

Jeff Timmons is proud of his boy band past!

The 98 Degrees singer stops by Wednesday's "Bethenny" where he reveals why the guys went with the temperature label for their group name and talks about the guys' infamous tattoos.

Check out the clip above to find out why Nick Lachey decided to have his 98 Degrees ink covered up.

While we'd have to say the tatts are probably not the coolest thing anymore, we gotta give props to Jeff for embracing his '90s past!

These days, Jeff is working on a reality show called "Men of the Strip," chronicling his own group of male strippers who will make their debut at the House of Blues in Las Vegas this weekend.

Or, you could go to Vegas and, y’know, see the actual show.

Men of the Strip star Jeff Timmons reveals workout and low-carb diet secrets

SOURCE
Samantha Chang

98 Degrees singer Jeff Timmons reveals low-carb diet and workout secrets.

Jeff Timmons, a founding member of the band 98 Degrees, credits a low-carb diet and rigorous four-day-a-week workouts for his rippling physique.
"As I get older, I find it more difficult to stay in shape," Timmons told People Feb. 24. "It's mostly about diet. I watch what I eat: low carb, not a lot of grains. No sugar, except for booze once in a while. I eat lean meat, eggs, fish. I like sweets, so I can't eat any of them."
While Jeff, 40, has always been in great shape, he amped up his fitness regimen to prepare for his own reality TV show, "Men of the Strip," which debuts on E! this summer.
The show chronicles the ups and downs of a male revue ("Men of the Strip") performing in Las Vegas. "Men of the Strip" will begin its Las Vegas residency after the show airs this summer.
Naturally, Timmons is often shirtless in the show, which is why the former teen heartthrob hits the gym extra-hard, doing a combination of cardio exercise, yoga and weight-lifting.
"I work out about four times a week," he said. "I'll do free weights and P90X. I like doing yoga, and I do high-intensity interval training, too."
Jeff also has to shave his body down for the striptease revue. It's a tough job, he joked, but somebody's got to do it. "Sure, I manscape," he laughed. "I shave my chest. I'm too much of a chicken to wax it! I make sure that everything is neatly trimmed."
Timmons became famous as a member of the super-popular 1990s boy band, 98 Degrees, which featured Justin Jeffre, and brothers Nick and Drew Lachey.
The group’s breakthrough album, 98° and Rising, went platinum four times. The band has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.
