Nickelodeon is getting into the music competition game with a few famous faces.
The iconic kids’ network unveiled an all-star lineup for its upcoming series “America’s Most Musical Family” on Thursday. Ciara, Debbie Gibson and David Dobrik will round out the judges’ panel alongside host Nick Lachey, and Access spoke with the cast at Nickelodeon Studios where they shared their excitement to help launch a family band into stardom.
“The concept is really refreshing,” Ciara said, praising the “unique” and “fun” dynamic in addition the performers’ “highest level of talent.

According to the network, “America’s Most Musical Family” will “feature a wide variety of talented and diverse families of two or more relatives who perform together, ranging from a father/daughter duo, sibling groups and a 12-member multigenerational brass ensemble.”
The 12-episode season will welcome 30 acts to compete for a $250,000 cash prize and recording contract with Republic Records.
While the contestants will be taking center stage, the celebrities cheering them on have an undeniable appeal to audiences across multiple generations and platforms.
“Nick continues to wow crowds performing alongside his brother Drew in 98 Degrees; Debbie remains the record-holder as the youngest female artist to write, produce and perform a number-one hit; David’s razor-sharp wit and expertise in the digital world will help families build their brand; and Ciara leads her own family in the spotlight as she continues her chart-topping career as a true triple threat,” Rob Bagshaw, Executive Vice President of Unscripted Content at Nickelodeon said in a statement. “But ultimately, this competition for all ages is about celebrating exceptionally talented families. We’re in for a spectacular show.”
Debbie couldn’t help but agree.
“It’s a great group,” she smiled while chatting with Access.
Though all four stars are familiar with finding success in the spotlight at a young age, Nick pointed out that he might have come closest to being an “America’s Most Musical Family” participant himself.
“I mean, I’m literally in a band with my brother,” the singer laughed, referring to bandmate and younger bro Drew Lachey. “98 Degrees would have been eligible for this show!”
“America’s Most Musical Family” is in production now and will premiere this fall on Nickelodeon.

Vanessa Lachey Reveals the Sweet Way She and Nick Keep the Romance Alive With 3 Children

Love is in the air! Vanessa Lachey has three kids at home, but that hasn’t stopped the Top Chef Junior host and her husband, Nick Lachey, from keeping their romance alive.

When it comes to getting caught up in “the kid bubble,” the Dancing With the Stars alum, 38, admitted to Us Weekly exclusively that she and her husband, 45, keep compliments in mind.
“You forget yourself, like, telling them how much you appreciate them and how handsome they are,” she said. “Instead, it becomes all about school pick-ups, soccer practice and dance class, and you forget to say, ‘Hey, you’re really cute,’ or, ‘Thank you so much for taking the kids to the bus today.’ You just want to feel appreciated.”
As for Valentine’s Day, the pair, who tied the knot in 2011, are loving their low-key plans. “Just because it’s Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean that I want to get dolled up and get a babysitter,” Vanessa revealed to Us. “It can be just as romantic at home. I love that we’ve embraced that the last couple of years.”

The former Total Request Live host and Nick will be cooking a meal together this V-Day. “I’m going to light some candles, light the fire,” the three-time mom, who partnered with Bob Evans to create two Valentine’s Day recipes, explained. “Just because we’re home doesn’t mean that it has to be the same routine.”
Vanessa also has plans to celebrate the special day with their kids. She and the 98 Degrees member share Camden, 6, Brooklyn, 4, and Phoenix, 2.
“I love decorating the kitchen table because it’s the first thing they see when they come downstairs,” the former Miss Teen USA said. “There’s a mirror behind it, so there will be hearts on the mirror, and I decorate place settings. … I have the chair backs with their names on it and give them little things they can interact and engage with. No one wants to give their kids candy at seven in the morning, so it’s more puzzles and stickers as we’re sitting having a meal together.”

'I Was Just Handled by a Man!' Nick Lachey Dances with Maksim Chmerkovskiy in First DWTS Rehearsal Video

SOURCE
BY

PEOPLE is celebrating the Sept. 18 premiere of Dancing with the Stars 25th season with 25 days of exclusive interviews, fun retrospectives and new details about what fans can expect from the milestone season.

Nick Lachey is practicing for Dancing with the Stars — but it’s not with the pro you’re thinking of.
In rehearsal footage released exclusively to PEOPLE, the former 98 Degrees frontman gets a special lesson from none other than Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who is actually Nick’s wife Vanessa‘s partner. (Nick and Vanessa are going up against each other this season, as are their respective pros, Chmerkovskiy and his wife Peta Murgatroyd.)
In the clip, Chmerkovskiy coaches Nick through some steps. As the two complete their twirl around the studio, Vanessa and Murgatroyd squeal in delight.

“Wow!” Vanessa says. “Sexy.”
“I was just handled by a man!” Nick quips.
“Well technically, you handled me, because you were leading,” says Chmerkovskiy as the foursome dissolve into giggles.

PEOPLE caught up with Vanessa and Chmerkovskiy at the DWTS season 25 cast party in New York City this week, and they revealed that going spouse-to-spouse is already starting to complicate things at home.
“I messed up already,” said 36-year-old mom of three. “I told Nick, ‘Oh, I think we got a song!’ And then Nick told Peta.”

That got Chmerkovskiy, 37, caught in a lie with Murgatroyd, 31: “She was like, ‘Babe, I asked you and you said no!’ Damn it.”
Vanessa now knows there are some things she won’t be able to share with her hubby throughout the dance contest.
“I’m learning, maybe don’t tell him everything,” the former Total Request Live host said. “Maks is my TV husband, and Nick is my life husband. I have to learn how to separate. It’s really hard!”
Season 25 of Dancing with the Stars premieres Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

The Sing-off premieres Good Squeaky clean Fun

NBC’s The Sing-Off premiered last night, in all of its cheesy glory and sans instruments, as host Nick Lachey will not allow you to forget. The little music competition show that could has been rewarded by NBC with afull season pick-up, which means one new judge, additional contenders to charm the family audience and larger prizes at stake. Yes, Nicole Scherzinger, known for her confounding statements that fall somewhere between criticism flirtation, has jumped ship to Fox’s The X Factor—check back on Thursday to see if that’s a good fit for her and her two friends—ushering in the Sara Bareilles Era, which puts the former UCLA a cappella performer alongside veteran judges Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman, thus adding a little bit more technical knowledge and legitimacy to the panel itself. Lachey is still Lachey, mind you, but did we get a fleeting sense that he’s feeling more relaxed the third time around? Guess the second televised marriage will do that to you.

To start things off, eight groups were broken into two groups of four to perform for the judges. Among them: three college groups, a family-sized brood from Wisconsin—enter your variousPartridge Family jokes now, but don’t forget to call Emma Stone!—and a super group consisting ofSing-Off contenders of yore, which really emphasizes both the love for the craft and the desperation that can take hold of humans when it comes to televised singing competitions. Yes, they’re all talented, but some of these ladies in Delilah will just not let their early exits go. The lack of versatility seemed to be the biggest threat to any group’s potential for success, as with each impending round they’ll be asked to perform genre-specific numbers instead of their familiar, foolproof set list. Of the two group’s sent home, The Cat’s Pajamas, the pride of Branson, Missouri by way of New Jersey, couldn’t make their ’60/’70s sound on Grand Funk Railroad’s “Some Kind of Wonderful” translate to the Sing-Off stage, despite playing 200 shows a year in their hometown. At least the people of the Midwest are experiencing no shortage of a cappella these days. The Fannin Family’s eight children will likely each have one stellar college entrance essay, but their approach to Selena Gomez’s “Who Says,” age-appropriate for 14-year-old lead Maria, seemed too safe, and the sibling group unwilling to ever rise above anything rated PG. Did we mention BYU’s Vocal Point changed Brian Setzer’s “can of ale” lyric to “ginger ale”? We know this is a family show, but c’mon. Live on the edge!

As four our favorites of the night? Afro-Blue, the co-ed group from Howard University (it’s always wise to give a shout-out to Diddy), whose jazzy take on “Put Your Records On” not only showcased lead singer Christie’s control, but also Reggie’s powerful bass which slowed down the Corrine Bailey Rae original to something truly soulful. Denver’s own Urban Method made a slightly overdramatic plea for stardom by explaining that they were “born to do this,” a sentiment truly unique to anyone ever making a run at stardom or doing anything they are truly passionate about in the history of the world. Rapper Mike explained his arduous quest to remove white MCs as the punchline of the music industry, one which makes him lose precious beauty sleep—so obviously he should be rewarded, right? For all the drama, the “rap-cappella” group delivered, making their rendition of Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love The Way You Lie” huge and theatrical, second only to the fiery performances by the famous faces in Em’s music video. There will be eight more groups to get to know next week, so get adjusted to this season’s changes by watching our early favorites, below

Joey Fatone is determined to learn 'My Old Kentucky Home'

SOURCE
Former N'Sync star Joey Fatone was slightly hoarse from singing at the Barnstable Brown party last night, but he said he is still determined to learn the words to "My Old Kentucky Home."
It is his ninth Derby, after all.
Country star Travis Tritt has tried to teach him the words before, he said.
"I'm usually drunk by that point, though," Fatone said with a laugh.
This year will be different.
Fatone wore a gray suit, purple shirt and black pork-pie hat.
He palled around with the Lachey brothers, also of boy band fame, later on the red carpet.
For the second year in the row, Nick and Drew Lachey made a beeline for the VIP tent, except for stopping to talk to Nancy O'Dell.
O'Dell had to take off her shoes to interview them, so she wouldn't appear taller.
