Drew Lachey: ‘I’ve still got it’

SOURCE

Drew Lachey told viewers that “I’ve still got it” on the “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars” debut tonight, but the judges weren’t totally convinced.

Lachey, who won season two in spring 2006, was criticized for being too rigid in his fox trot with Anna Trebunskaya. He needs to “soften up and relax,” said Len Goodman.
Bruno Tonioli called him “Dynamic Drew,” and gave him the most praise: “It looked like you danced with each other forever… The first time, I loved it.”
Judges gave them a 21.5, a middle of the road score for the night. (A new wrinkle this year lets judges award a one-half point  for the first time.) He was tied for fifth with actress Kelly Monaco and race car driver Helio Castroneves.

Drew Lachey Says Runners Up Are The Ones To Beat On New Season of Dancing With The Stars!

SOURCE
Written by:

In a new interview with Access Hollywood, Drew Lachey says the runners up are the ones to beat because they still want to win. Makes sense. He’s also prepared to dance with anyone. More below and be sure to read the link as well. The video interview isn’t up yet, but, check Access Hollywood for it on Monday. To Drew. This guy had a lot of determination the first time he danced. I bet he will this time as well? I love the part in bold…
“Every season has been a step up in talent level, aggressiveness and taking on the dances. So for me, that’s a big reason of why I decided to come back,” he explained. “Second season was great — it was challenging, it was hard — but I want to see how I hold up against some of the big boys that have done it in more recent seasons.”
As for whether he’d like to be partnered with his original pro, Cheryl Burke, Drew said he’s prepared either way.
“If Cheryl and I dance together, we already know how to work together, we already know how far we can push each other. There’s that history there,” he said. “That being said, with a new partner, there’s a new excitement of different skill sets, different choreography, different styles. So, there [are] pros and cons for both.
“Whoever gets Cheryl is gonna be happy,” he added. “But I guarantee you I’ll be set with whoever I get as well!”

Dancing With the Stars Backstage Report: Drew Lachey and Warren Sapp Handicap the Finale

SOURCE
by Deborah Starr Seibel

Now that the Disney Kid has beaten the Karate Kid, all bets are off. With Tuesday night's elimination of Ralph Macchio, it'll be Chelsea Kane, Kirstie Alley and Hines Ward in next week's Dancing With the Stars finale. But even show insiders are at a loss, trying to figure out who will ultimately sashay home with the prize.

"I gotta believe it's gonna be either Chelsea or Hines," says second season champ Drew Lachey, one of those rare birds who maintains the physical conditioning required to come back to this show and do what he did Tuesday night: Reunite with his pro partner, Cheryl Burke, and dance. "Chelsea and Hines are the strongest dancers and can do more in the freestyle."

But even Lachey is hedging his bets, because he is, after all, not including Alley — a well-loved comedian and a sympathetic Everywoman struggling with weight issues — as a potential winner. "That's the big X-factor," he says, "Kirstie's fan base. But she and Maks (Maksim Chmerkovskiy) are really gonna have to bring it, athletically, to compete with the other two."

Warren Sapp, Season 7 runner-up, isn't buying that at all. "I love her," he says of Alley. "Hines is my boy, but I just love Kirstie because she doesn't care! She lets go! You can see the confidence coming out of her pores!"

True enough, as Alley, standing only a few feet away, jokes with an interviewer at exactly that moment that her game plan next week is "to beat Hines Wards' ass." She admits only that he's an appealing dancer. "He's a frickin' dreamboat," she says, in mock frustration.

Sapp looks at her with admiration. He's totally up to speed with the show, even though he says he has to make up stories to break away from his football buddies to watch on Monday nights. Is it so difficult, even now, after so many football greats have competed on the show? Sapp laughs and shakes his head, yes. "Real men don't dance and don't talk about dancing," he says. "But I love this."
