One of the biggest parades in America, the Macy's Parade started in 1924 when a smaller event put on by Bamberger's Stores in New Jersey was transferred to the Macy's name. Since then, it has run every year except from 1942 to 1944 due to World War II.
Originally a home to marching bands and those giant balloons, the parade has evolved over the years to include musical performances by popular artists and Broadway shows. Most performances, though, are lip synced due to the technical difficulties of live performances on moving vehicles in uncertain weather conditions.
This year's parade will see a mix of veteran and new artists including Smokey Robinson, the Goo Goo Dolls, 98 Degrees, Sara Evans, Andy Grammer, Bebe Rexha and a number of actor/singers out of the teen and Disney world.
