Lacheys host summer arts camp

A year after giving up plans to teach music theater at the School for Creative & Performing Arts, alumni Drew and Lea Lachey will conduct a two-week musical theater summer camp at SCPA for students ages 14-19.
Drew Lachey, who’s in New York reading for a stage show, says the 10 instructors for the Lachey Arts curriculum will be “working professionals” who have experience on Broadway, TV shows, films, pilots and tours.
“Many programs have a goal of putting on a show or production at the end of camp and that is what they focus on,” he said. “Our goal is to make our students better performers, to focus on areas where they need improvement and not just the areas where they already excel.”
The Aug. 6-17 session will conclude with a showcase to be “used as a tool to implement the new skills they have learned, not as our final goal,” he said. Cost is $1,250 per person. Applications and details are posted at lacheyarts.com.
