It's been over a decade since Nick Lachey was first known as a member of boy band 98 Degrees along with his brother Drew, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre, but Nick tells CNN that the friendship is still going strong.
"I was just with them this past weekend, we got together and hung out a bit here in L.A. and spent some time," newlywed Lachey says.
"That chapter for all of us was such an incredible chapter and such an important part of all of our lives that the memories we have and friendships are life-lasting," he went on. "It's always good to get together with them, whether we're singers or not, and hang a little bit."
But as Kelly Ripa signs on for five more years of "Live! With Regis and Kelly,"some are wondering if Lachey will be the next to co-host with her once Regis Philbin departs the show next Friday.
While the singer/actor played coy about whether he's been formally asked to host the morning show, he did say he's open to taking the job.
"I've had the opportunity to co-host with Kelly, I think five or six times over the years, and each and every time it's a blast," Lachey told CNN. "I adore her, as she knows, and I love being a part of that show, it's such a great group there. If the opportunity were to present itself that would be very intriguing for me. I really enjoy being a part of that up there."
In the meantime, Lachey is hosting NBC's "The Sing-Off," Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
