On Thursday, October 15th, during a stop on Winnit.com's "Everybody Wins Tour," Nick Lachey visited The Three Square Food Bank where he worked alongside volunteers and high school students participating in the 2009 Student Food Drive (Photo: © Erik Kabik/ RETNA/ www.erikkabik.com). Today the volunteers packed 1,440 bags of food.
Lachey, co-founder of Winnit.com, the new reverse auction website, is touring the U.S. to celebrates the successful launch of www.Winnit.com while supporting and raising awareness of Feeding America, the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. A portion of the proceeds from the first month of Winnit.com will be donated to Feeding America.
Nick bagged with the kids then posed for photos with the group before hopping back on the bus to wrap up his "Winnit.com Everybody Wins Tour".
Las Vegas marked the fifteenth stop on the 11-day tour of the U.S (which first began in Nick's home town of Cincinnati, Ohio on October 5th) where he has been visiting Winnit.com members at their homes and hand-delivering the products they won through auctions on Winnit.com (products range from Louis Vuitton handbags to iPods to plasma TVs). In addition to delivering these items to 18 lucky members across the country, Nick has also been volunteering his time to help raise awareness of Feeding America with appearances at local soup kitchens and food banks in various cities along the way. Nick has been an active member of Feeding America's Entertainment Council for over three years.
The “BackPack for Kids” Program provides nutritious, child-friendly food each Friday to children who might otherwise go without during the weekends. More than 45.5% of children in the Clark County School District are participating in the “free and reduced meals” program.
Three Square currently serves 169 schools and distributes more than 3,700 bags of food weekly.
