Wendy’s social media campaign turns fans’ tweets about new Pretzel bun burger into love songs. Nick Lachey performed at NYC launch party at Wendy’s on West 34th St.
Nick Lachey is singing about a new love interest these days — Wendy's Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger — and it was love at first bite.
The former 98 Degrees singer’s music career is on a roll ... literally. He’s teamed up with Wendy's to host the Pretzel Love Songs Event, an official launch party for the summertime-only Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger held at the West 34th St. location in New York City on Monday night.
"When Wendy's introduced the new sandwich, I think the response was so positive they referred to it as a ‘love fest,’ and I thought, ‘What better way to get all these sentiments out than through a series of love songs?’" Lachey told the Daily News. "Throughout my career, I've been known to sing love songs, so that's kind of where I came into this whole thing. It's just a fun project. I've obviously never had the opportunity to write a song about a Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger before, so I thought, ‘What the heck?’ Let’s take the opportunity and have some fun with it," he said of the original song he wrote based on Tweets from fans using the hashtag #PretzelLoveSongs.

The new cheeseburger, which capitalizes on a growing pretzel bun trend, costs $4.97.
Wendy’s campaign invites customers to confess their love for the Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger with the hashtag #PretzelLoveSongs on social media sites Twitter and Facebook. Wendy's will then turn the most creative posts into love song lyrics to be performed by professional vocalists and musicians like Lachey and posted as videos on Wendy’s Facebook page.
Following the sizzling serenade, Lachey performed more conventional love songs like “I Do (Cherish You)” and "This I Swear," the theme song from his 2003 MTV reality show, "Newlyweds."
"I did not write that one about a bacon cheeseburger, but maybe I should have,” he joked.
"It's fun. It's not like we're winning Grammys here tonight, but it was a fun project to do and certainly a great way to kick off this great sandwich.”
