Team Lachey To Sing For African Poverty Relief

CINCINNATI -- A prize-winning local choir will perform in Cincinnati with pop star Nick Lachey, who put together the group to compete on NBC’s “Clash of the Choirs.”

The choir has been in demand since they won the televised competition last month and raised money for Children’s Hospital.

“I get e-mails all day long and phone calls from people just thanking us for what we did for Children's Hospital,” said choir member Chuck Merck.
Team Lachey’s next performance, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 18, at Music Hall, is intended to raise $1 million for eight Cincinnati County Day School students who will travel on a mission to South Africa.

“This is a gift that we want to give back to Cincinnati, give back to the audience, give back to South Africa and give back to whoever needs it,” said choir member Will Underwood. “I can't wait.”

Advance tickets are on sale for $20 at Music Hall or the Aronoff Center, but $25 at the door, and all the proceeds go to the Cincinnati Country Day students and their efforts to bring relief to a poverty-stricken South African village.

“We just love to sing, and if we can bring the crowd in and we can help other people, it just helps us both,” said choir member April Hilen. “We get to sing and help others, and there's nothing like that.”

Tickets are available online at cincinnatiarts.org.
