And the Greatest Boy Band of All-Time Is…

SOURCE

Big Time Rush came out in an MTV interview and claimed that, while there were a lot of awesome boy bands, BTR was the best. So, we let the fists fly. We opened it up on the air on the text line (82985), on Facebook and Twitter. After hundreds of votes NSync was crowned victorious…or were they?
But since Las Vegas local Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees called in to the show, we declared 98 Degrees the winner of our exceptionally unofficial poll.
We received votes for Boys II Men, New Kids, Backstreet, New Edition, The Jackson 5, B2K, O-Town, JoBros, One Direction, Menudo, and even IMX. Check out how it all went down:

Vanessa Minnillo Lachey: Nick Is Nesting More Than I Am

For Vanessa Lachey (formerly Minnillo), the idea of being a mom didn't just conjure up ideas of pastels, diapers, and first words; it also brought a heightened awareness of the world she was welcoming her first child into.

Celebrity Baby Bumps

"Very rarely do people talk about the emotional and mental changes [during pregnancy], and the worries that all of a sudden come from nowhere. You suddenly think about safeguarding the world for your children," says the Wipeout host, 31.

Cue the Proctor & Gamble "Take a Load Off" campaign she is helping launch, which promotes energy conservation through the simple change of washing clothes in cold water. "It was something I always did, but didn't understand the good that I was doing by using cold water to do laundry. It saves money and saves energy."

Post-Baby Slimdowns

Go to Facebook.com/futurefriendly to enter the Take a Load Off sweepstakes for your chance to win a new high-efficiency washer and dryer set and a one-year supply of Tide Coldwater detergent.

Read on for more with Vanessa, who is expecting her first child with husband Nick Lachey later this year.

On trying to be green.
"Nick and I recycle. I always used cold water but I didn't understand I was saving 80% of my household's energy output by doing that. So I worked on educating myself and want to help educate others on simple household changes that can make a huge difference."

On how they split up household duties.
"One of the reasons of why I married him, along with all the other amazing qualities he has, is that he's such a great partner. We share a lot of duties. He's a good Cincinnati, mid-western boy. He does the dishes, he does his laundry, and we share all the duties in the house. We realize it's a partnership. It's not 50-50. It's 100% on my end and 100% on his end."

On baby cravings. "I think it's important to let yourself indulge but what I eat, what I put into my body, goes directly to my baby. It makes you think, "Do I really want to get that Snickers bar snack or do I want to get a bowl of fruit?" So then I go for the fruit and the antioxidants. But of course I'm human and after we went out to dinner last night, I had a bowl of ice cream. After the baby is born, I still want to have me. I don't want to start at ground zero to try and get back to that."

On nesting.
"I have [been nesting] in my mind but I've been a little consumed with work. But the interesting thing I've noticed is my husband is nesting. I always thought it was the woman but he's doing his little nesting part too. He saw this old table we have and he sanded it, then he stained it, put glass on it. He made us a desk! It was pretty incredible. Now I feel guilty so I think because of that I tried to put the stroller together the other day. But we have a good amount of time to prepare."

On taking a break
"I have this campaign and I'm shooting Wipeout right now so that's taking a lot of my time. But come this summer, my last three months, I'm just going to be all about baby. Take off work, completely nest, fold all of the clothes and do the laundry. Just get everything ready."

Where she gets her energy. "The thing that really helps is having a partner who is willing to be so supportive. Anything and everything he can do to help, he does. And just reminding myself of why I am doing what I am doing. Realistically, whenever I can get a nap, I do. I get 30 minutes for lunch so I eat for the first 10 and then I sleep the next 20. Every minute you can get!"

On Nick's baby crooning."Some of the books are inconsistent on when the baby can hear me and outside voices. I told him the other day that the baby could hear him now and he corrected me! He was like, 'no, actually according to my book..." When that time does come, I know he's going to sing to the baby every single day. It's sweet to see that smile on his face."

On keeping the romance alive.
"This whole process is going on in our first year of marriage, which everyone says is the hardest. But for us, we dated each other for five years before we got married so we were comfortable with all of the little things that would normally get into people's way. I think the important thing is patience, communication, understanding, and knowing when you are wrong. We all react and say things but it's all about coming back and saying you're sorry. It's about knowing this is the person you will be married to for the rest of your life. There is nothing unforgivable, he is my partner, you know?"

Vanessa Lachey on hubby's love of sports

It's Earth Day, and we tracked down actress Vanessa Lachey (cohost of ABC's "Wipeout"), who is working with Procter & Gamble to launch “Take a Load Off” campaign, which encourages U.S. consumers to switch to cold water laundry washing to help save energy.

"Since I am a soon-to-be mother, I really started thinking about ways I could safeguard the future for my child. This is an easy household change that has a meaningful impact," said Lachey, who has been married to former 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey for nearly 10 months. "I think people get overwhelmed with the idea of 'green'. So, I want to spread the word on how they can get started on making a difference."

OK, this is ESPN. How crazy is your husband about sports and has that changed things for you?

"He is a sports fanatic! All year long! It goes from the Super Bowl at the beginning of the year, and then there's basketball, college and pro. Major League Baseball rings in the spring. And football lets us know it's almost fall. And of course who can forget Nascar all year long!!! We are a #48 [Jimmie Johnson] house. Don't forget golf and tennis sprinkled in there. And every four years an Olympic marathon! Gotta love it!"

Nick loves Cincinnati and all things around it. What do you think about that area?

"Cincinnati is a great city! We are excited to raise our family there! They have an NFL team and an MLB team. Nick talks about taking our kids to games. In fact, the first thing he said to our child through my belly was the Bengals 'Who Dey' chant! Haha! I will never forget that."

‘I Don’t Think It Will Ever Happen’: Jeff Timmons Opens Up About 98 Degrees Reunion Tour

SOURCE

Earlier this month, millions of pop music fans were ecstatic when they heard the rumors that former ’90s boy band 98 Degrees was reuniting for a tour this summer.
Unfortunately, said rumors were quickly shot down by band member and soon-to-be-father Nick Lachey, who on Twitter wrote, “So psyched to see all the excitement for a 98 degree tour, but the only tour I’ll be doing this summer is at baby’s ‘r us.” (Nick and his wife, Vanessa Lachey, are expecting their first child together this year.)
So, what exactly happened to the tour? In an exclusive Q&A with Celebuzz,  founder and creator of 98 DegreesJeff Timmons gave us a little insight, during which he admitted that any future plans for a tour seem unlikely at this point.
“I honestly don’t think it’s gonna happen at all now,” Timmons said, candidly. “If it wasn’t gonna happen now, it wasn’t gonna happen last year … Maybe it’ll never happen.”
“We had gotten serious about it,” he said, of the proposed summer tour. “So much so that a tour was being put together for us; a 15-city tour. We got on the phone, all of the guys discussed it, and it seemed like a go. And then not everybody wanted to do it, for various reasons. We make decisions collectively as a group; not one person make decisions. [Since] not all four of us were on the same page, we decided not to do it.”
Did Nick’s baby have anything to do with the boy band not reuniting? Not entirely, Timmons, 38, says.
“I know that it had come out that it was due possibly to Nick having a baby. I’m sure that played a small part into it, but I don’t think that was the main reason we didn’t get back together. I think that it was a number of things.”
News of 98 Degrees’ reunion tour came at an interesting moment for pop music, which is currently experiencing a revival of sorts of the boy-band era, thanks to groups like One Direction, The Wanted and Big Time Rush. We’ve also seen collaborations with New Kids On the Block and The Backstreet Boys, and there have been stories for years now that No Doubt plans to reunite and release a new CD as well as the Jonas Brothers.
With so many reunions and revivals going on, is there any hope that 98 Degrees — who, as Timmons recalls, disbanded amid the tragic terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 — might get back into the studio and record? Probably not.
“I would love to get back in the studio with 98 degrees, but I just don’t think it’s gonna happen,” Timmons says. “Some of us want to do music, and some of us don’t. We all gotta want to do it; we can’t be forced into that. It’ll come through in the music. So, I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I would love the opportunity, but right now it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna go down.”
Check back Friday morning for our full interview with Timmons, in which he talks more about his career with 98 Degrees, working with Chippendales and his advice for the new wave of boy bands like One Direction! You can also follow Jeff Timmons on Twitter @jefftimmons98!

Cincinnati: the city that sings

Cincinnati is “singing every night and day,” and Councilwoman Laure Quinlivan wants everyone to know that.
Quinlivan is producing a music video to promote Cincinnati as “the city that sings.” Production on Sunday included singer Nick Lachey at Great American Ball Park with dancers from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. Later, shooting was moved to Findlay Market with former American Idol contestant Eben Franckewitz of Miami Township in Clermont County.
Quinlivan wrote the lyrics to “Cincinnati Singing,” set to the tune of “Proud Mary” by John Fogerty. The first verse says:
It’s a good life in the city
Cincinnati’s singing every night and day
The Pops and the opera
Rock ’n’ roll and gospel
Funk & blues & schools with performing arts
Quinlivan said Cincinnati does not have a national image and that hurts the city when it goes to attract businesses and top artistic talent. She said the city has great opportunity with the World Choir Games that it hosts this summer as media from all over the world will be here.
“The city that sings really is very authentic to us. That’s the reason we got the games,” she said, noting the city’s strong singing tradition and Music Hall as reasons it was picked to have the choir games.
Television talk show host and former Mayor Jerry Springer will appear in a shoot this week. Other celebrities who will be in the video are Bootsy Collins and Lachey’s brother Drew Lachey. Quinlivan said actress Carmen Electra wants to do it from Los Angeles. Quinlivan said she’s not sure how that will work.
Nick Lachey, a 1992 School for Creative & Performing Arts graduate who grew up in College Hill, said he does everything he can to promote hey owns a home in Cincinnati and he said he loves it here. He plans to be here at least for the World Choir Games’ opening ceremonies.
“It’s hard to communicate to people who aren’t from here because it really is a special (and) unique place,” he said. “But I think for people who did grew up here, everyone would agree that there’s no place like Cincinnati.”
Quinlivan said officials want the video to be online and it will probably be about two minutes long. A former television reporter, she said she wrote it so a 30-second section can be made into a public service announcement.
“So we’re hoping our television and radio stations will air it,” she said.
