Drew set to host HGTV $250,000 Challenge

Drew Lachey says being an emergency medical technician on the streets of New York City earlier in life helped make him the man he is today - and better at his new day job as a TV host.
"It really helps you gauge everything in life," Lachey says. "There, you're dealing with life and death on a daily basis. Now, just being able to realize what's not life and death helps you deal with every situation."
And it also comes into play now, with his job as host of HGTV's "$250,000 Challenge," a competition series launching Sunday at 10 p.m. that pits five families in a home remodeling challenge.
"I did it at such a young age," Lachey, 32, says of his run as an EMT with Metropolitan Ambulance. "It helped mold me into the adult I became. For me, it kept me grounded."
A former boy-band member with brother Nick in 98 Degrees, Lachey has successfully transitioned from EMT to singer, to Broadway actor, and now into a television personality.
He got his TV start by winning the second season of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," which led to filling in as a host on that show, then hosting "Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann." An appearance on HGTV's "Summer Showdown" last year led to getting the "$250,000 Challenge."
"I never really envisioned myself as a host," Lachey says. "It was never something I was aiming for. It wasn't in my wheelhouse. It's something that's naturally happened. Honestly, I'm glad it did."
Lachey admits that it wasn't easy figuring out what to do after 98 Degrees broke up in 2002.
"It's very difficult, honestly," he says of the transition. "I was sitting home for a while after 98 Degrees. I was trying to find out what the next thing was. It really is hard to make a transition into the next phase of your career, especially when you're pigeonholed into the boy-band thing."
Thought it wasn't his initial calling, he has found a home as a host.
"I think being a host is a very underrated position," Lachey says. "You look at some of the biggest hosts on television - Ryan Seacrest, Tom Bergeron, Howie Mandel - they dictate the feel of the show. ... If you're fun, and upbeat, and joking around, that's what the feel of the show will be."
With "$250,000 Challenge," it helps that Lachey is a do-it-yourselfer, too. He and his family only stay in a home a couple of years, and once they're done renovating, they move on.
"I somewhat know what I'm doing and I have all of my fingers, still, at this time," he says.
His days as a working EMT are behind him, he says, although he has not tossed his EMT workbook and still dabbles in it around the house.
"It always seems," he says of friends and family, "whenever something happens, I'm the first one they call."

You get all dressed up and it's like, 'This is it?' ' Lachey remembers.
It's May — you know what that means. It's getting warm, the flowers are blooming and the time-honored tradition of prom is back again. So get your corsages, turn up the cheesy music and fuel the limos, because this week we're catching up with your favorite stars and helping them relive their favorite prom memories.
Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo seem to have had very different prom experiences back in high school. Minnillo, who grew up all over the country as an Army brat, had a full-on glamorous prom experience, while Lachey, who grew up in Cincinnati, had a more low-budget prom night.
"I always feel like prom was fun, but it was always a little bit of a let-down from all the anticipation and all the butterflies," Lachey told MTV News. "You get all dressed up and it's like, 'This is it?' I didn't spring for a limo. I took a rusted-out Toyota — that's how we did it in Cincinnati."
Meanwhile, Minnillo's aggravation came from having to hear her date complain about spending a lot of money to take her to the prom. "The guy wastes a lot of money," she recalled. "I had to hear about it. 'I spent money on the limo, money on dinner' ... I'm like, 'The whole point of prom is to have a good time.' "
Despite her date's complaining, she did call him out on being a bit stingy on the limo rental. "It was a six-person limo," she said. "And it had 12 of us in it!"

It's wedding time! Rather than give Lucas any advice, Nathan just asks Lucas to remember whatever he said before his wedding to Lindsey. Things also go bad as Nathan hits on the minister and the maid of honor calls a woman in the audience a skank.
Haley's ministering skills suck as she makes a bad joke about Peyton being knocked up before following Peyton's advice and using song lyrics to fill in the gaps, saying that "every rose has its thorn" and "every cowboy sings a sad, sad song." Peyton is mortified that Poison lyrics are being used in her wedding ceremony.
Haley pulls it together by taking out an old note Lucas wrote that said "Peyton Sawyer will be Peyton Scott" back when they were kids. They give their vows and cry and Haley pronounces them man and wife.
After the wedding, Brooke goes straight to the recording studio to recruit Nick Lachey as her date to the reception. At the reception, Lucas tries to get Julian to admit he only brought Movie Brooke to make Real Brooke jealous. Speaking of jealousy, Brooke shows up with Nick Lachey on her arm, and in keeping with the rules of Tree Hill, Nick Lachey introduces himself using his full name.
Movie Brooke is super excited to see Nick Lachey and certain that he and the real Brooke will have slutty wedding sex. Julian doesn't care about some reject from Dancing with the Stars. Movie Brooke knows that it was Nick Lachey's little brother Drew was on DWTS, so Julian figures Nick must be the guy from the MTV reality show Laguna Beach. At their table, Movie Brooke talks Nick Lachey's ear off about how much she loved his brother on DWTS. Julian returns after hanging out with his friends, his group of guys, his band of boys, or his boy band, as it were. Oh yes, he's going there. Julian then thinks it's getting hot, almost 98 degrees.
And then we cut to Julian holding a bag of ice to his bruised head. Guys in Tree Hill love punching him, and the saddest part is that Julian was actually a fan of 98 Degrees.
Mia gets to perform a special song she wrote just for the bride, and even though the doctors said she shouldn't, Peyton forces Lucas to dance with her or else she'll go ask Julian. They're soon followed by all the other couples: Nathan and Haley, Mouth and Millie, Skills and Miss Lauren, Brooke and Nick Lachey and Julian and Movie Brooke.
Haley gets an itch and pulls Nathan into the women's bathroom for...SLUTTY WEDDING SEX! Congratulations to everyone who had Nathan and Haley in their slutty wedding sex pool. There's some mildly slutty behavior outside as Brooke and Julian make out with their respective dates to make each other jealous.
After Nick Lachey's role is done, he takes off, fully aware that he was being used for the sake of jealousy. However, before taking off, Nick Lachey also points out that Julian is obviously still into Brooke. It's true, because Julian comes up and asks Brooke to either dance with him or tell him she loves him.
That night, Julian gets drunk and visits Clothes Over Bros to find Brooke. Instead, he meets Victoria, and using his own parentla issues, he tells her that he's in love with Brooke Davis, and when she finally comes around, Victoria will have two choices: be nicer to her daughter or never see her again. Who would've guessed at the start of this season that Julian would be so awesome.
Jamie is having problems with Skills and Miss Lauren's relatioship, but Skills talks him out of it. Before leaving, Miss Lauren suggests she and Skills take Jamie's leash for some slutty wedding sex of their own. That is one nasty elementary school teacher. Equally nasty are Nick Lachey and Movie Brooke who have slutty wedding sex of their own, only she's fantasizing about Drew and he's fantasizing about the real Brooke.
The evening concludes with Lucas taking Peyton back to their place, decorated in candles and flowers. He goes outside to prep the newly renovated Comet, but inside, Peyton starts bleeding and when Lucas returns, she's unconscious.

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo support Prejean
Despite what some people think, Miss California, Carrie Prejean is getting support from some of Hollywood’s big stars.
Nick Lachey and girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo feel as though it was only right that Prejean kept her crown.
According to reports Lachey said, “"Of course she should have kept her crown. This is what makes America America," and continues to say "Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and you should be able to say your opinion and not be criticized or penalized for it."
He also commented on why people shouldn’t be mad at her comment on her beliefs about marriage. If they asked her what she thinks about gay marriage, they couldn’t expect to hear what was politically correct.
Not everyone is like that.
So although most did not agree with what she said, some are saying that she had every right to say what she did. If she could not say that, then what would be the purpose of our first amendment rights?

As we previously reported, the couple's denied any break-up rumors, but are they just sticking it out for the sake of the pup? We certainly hope it was nothing more than a checkup!

That was fast! One week after Star's report that Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo's three-year relationship had hit the breaking point, Nick stepped out as a single man at a series of bashes for the Kentucky Derby.
In the May 18 issue of Star, on sale now, we report that Nick stormed the Louisville party scene, looking for a little loving — and got it!
Nick and his brother, Drew, arrived at the Derby Spectacular at Glassworks on May 2 at 1:15 a.m. And while Nick's ex-wife, Jessica Simpson, tells June's Vanity Fair, "I have not spoken to him in years," it seems Nick can't get her off his brain. An eyewitness tells Star that Nick immediately zeroed in on curvy blonde Emily Gimmel, star of SOAPnet's new reality series, Southern Belles.
"She's a dead ringer for Jessica; I thought Nick's eyes were going to pop out of his head!" As Nick, 35, chatted with the 24-year-old stunner, "he was making it clear he was into her," the eyewitness adds. "Emily laughed, flipped her hair and flirted up a storm. She was obviously interested too."
After two hours huddled together, Nick and Emily exchanged numbers — and a huge hug.
But that's not all the action Nick got. The night before, he kissed another young hottie at the club Prime!

Jeff Timmons Cruise anyone??
So for those of you that tuned in tonight to the Caribbean Radio Show to here Jeff live it was a blast. Hearing Jeff interact with you guys!! :) How fun was that? Thanks Amy for pulling that all together & letting us be a part of it...
Many of us really was not sure what to say like me. Stumbling over my words. lol..Honestly I dont even remember what I said. Which is crazy. I know Jeff. I consider him a friend in some way.
But I called in & got the wrong number at first! That went well. lol...Then I got the right number and it didnt even ring. Bam I was on and talking to Jeff. For some reason they thought i was Trixi or Daisy from Boston...lmao. Jeff asks what cities I am close to & of course Im about 13 hours from Boston. Had I been there I would have been at Ddub aka Donnie Wahlbergs party last night...
So I said Jeff this is Vicious. (don't ask. If you know me in person you will understand) and a light went off in his head!
Somehow along the way Going on a Cruise with Jeff Timmons was brought up. How kool would that be if we could all meet up for a few days. Get some Sun, here some Jeff tunes & hangout with other Friends!!
The podcast will be available in just a few days & I seriously cannot wait to hear it myself. Because it all happened so fast its just a Blur...
as 4 the Cruise. Only time will tell. But this chick here <===== Is off to get in shape!!!! And recruiting my new found New Kis on the Block girls into Jeff fans while I'm at it!! Its gna be a Fabulous Summer!!!
