Nick and Vanessa Minnillo at Cincinnati Children's Hospital last year.

On the day of the big Royal Wedding, Nick Lachey didn’t want to say much about his upcoming nuptials with actress/TV host Vannessa Minnillo.

When I caught him for a few minutes before the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati 2011 Achievement lunch today and asked him what’s new, he said: “I”m heading back into the recording studio to do another album. I’m getting music going again. And I’m getting married.”

When? Where?

“The clock is ticking,” said Lachey, who popped the question to Minnillo last November.

Will it be sometime this year?

“If I were a betting man — and I’m not — I’d say it could happen this year.”

It could be a busy year for Nick, in addition to wedding plans and a new album:

“The Sing-Off”: He returns to host the third season on NBC. Open auditions start Thursday May 5 in Boston, but he won’t be involved until shows are taped in August.

Flying Pig Productions, the TV production company he owns with brother Drew: “We’ll be pitching two projects later this month in LA (to networks). We’re trying to make the productions here in Cincinnati, to do it out of here.” He would be a behind-the-scenes producer, not the star. Nick says he’s not involved with the “Glee”-like reality TV show that Drew and his wife Lea are talking to their alma mater, the School for Creative & Performing Arts, about doing based on their efforts to revive the music theater major this fall. “I encouraged them to do it,” said Nick, who co-created and produced the “Taking the Stage” reality show starring SCPA students for MTV.

Coming home: He’s “making a gradual transition to be back here.” Currently he spends about 3 weeks a month in LA, and 1 week at his place here. “There are a lot of things I’ve go to do in LA productionwise,” he says. Drew and Lea moved back here two years ago. Sounds like we could be seeing more of Nick? And Vanessa?
