Jeff Timmons was lucky enough to perform for Michael Jackson twice.

Michael Jackson Had ‘Unbelievable Energy’
98 Degrees singer Jeff Timmons was lucky enough to perform for Michael Jackson twice.

“We did a show in NYC for Z100, and it was us [98 Degrees] and Beyonce, and they came back in the green room and said ‘rumor has it, Michael Jackson’s gonna be there, and they want you guys to sing a cover of Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,’” Jeff, 36, whose vocal group hit it big with hits including The Hardest Thing, Because Of You, I Do (Cherish You) and True To Your Heart, tells me.

“We all got up onstage and sang it, and then he came out and introduced himself to the crowd, and obviously the place erupted. The energy that came in with him when he stepped on the stage was unbelievable.”

What was Michael really like?

“He was a very nice guy, and polite,” Jeff says. “He was not a bit weird, like we had heard and seen him depicted as on television. He was just a nice guy. He was just really quiet.”

He also performed for Michael during VH1’s Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Special, The Solo Years filmed at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on September 10, 2001 – the last time 98 Degrees performed together.

“It was an honor,” Jeff says. “We met him briefly, and he thanked us for being part of the event. I was hoping for my next project, I’d have the opportunity to work with him, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen.”

Jeff’s solo album, Emotional High, will be released in October.

Jeff Timmons: Soaring on an Emotional High

By Madeleine Chong

If album titles were an extension of an artiste's persona and feelings, then the name of Jeff Timmons' latest CD speaks volumes about his life and music endeavors.

As the founding member of now defunct Grammy-nominated boy band 98 Degrees, Jeff strikes one as a musical maverick of sorts. He produced his first solo album Whisper That Way in 2004 from scratch, involving himself in all aspects of its creation. Not content to wade in safe waters, he formed his own label instead of relying on established record giants to promote his music.

With his sophomore effort due for a grand Caribbean cruise launch in September, a new music distribution venture in the works, and an upcoming performance in Manila, 2009 charts several high points and exciting moments for Jeff. No wonder then, that his labor of love is titled Emotional High, an exclusive that Jeff shares with MTV Asia.

You've had the experience of being in a band and striking out solo, what was the learning journey like? Do you have a preference for one over the other?

Both of them are amazing experiences in their own right. This may sound corny, but I feel extremely blessed and fortunate that God has allowed me to do both.

Imagine, I get to sing songs, perform and create for a living! I feel that now, I like being a solo artist a bit better because it has a natural progression and provides growth. I write, produce and engineer the music myself with close friends, and it's really fulfilling creatively.

In past interviews, you've emphasised that 98 Degrees as a band has not permanently split up and will eventually make a comeback. Will that be anytime soon, judging by the current spate of boy band reunions the likes of Take That?

I am not aware of any current plans for a 98 Degrees reunion. BUT- I'm definitely not opposed to it!

It has been a number of years since the release of your first album, Whisper That Way. What has changed and how much of that has inspired/fed into the sound of your new album?

Whisper That Way is a project that is very dear to me. It chronicles what was an extremely difficult time in my life. That being said, it was my first real crack at creating an album on my own. I was new at writing and production. At that time I was still heavily influenced by the 98 Degrees sound, and I produced the record according to what I thought was expected.

With the new album, I write and produce what I feel at the time, or what my writing and production partners are feeling. It is much more professional with regards to the production. It also reflects where I am spiritually and emotionally in my life, which makes the album much more upbeat and fun.

You've been narrowing down tracks for the new album by getting fans and friends on MySpace to select their favorites, which is a great way to get them involved. How has new media changed the face of music and fandom for you?

A lot of people are afraid of the media and change. I embrace and love it. It enables me to get the opinions of the fans, who have been loyal and dedicated to me and my career for over a decade. I take what they say very seriously.

On the other hand, the music is a true and direct reflection of me and what I feel, so ultimately I will take everyone's opinions into mind, but choose the tracks that I feel best reflect me and the goal of the project.

Media is also a great way to become close and personable with fans and friends. It sort of breaks down the imaginary walls that are built up around celebrities. This is good and bad depending on how private you are or how you view yourself. I personally like being close with the fans, as long is it doesn't cross the lines of privacy.

Your album launch will be on a Caribbean cruise, which is really exciting news! Tell us more about that.

A lot of artists are doing events on cruises, but I want the album to be released on a worldwide basis at a huge party. Everyone is invited! Even if folks can't make the cruise, we are aiming to broadcast it on TV all over the world, and on the web.

I want everyone to be a part of something new that has never been done before. I sincerely appreciate the support other countries have given 98 Degrees and myself as a solo artist. The U.S. is a great market, but the rest of the world is bigger and equally important!

You're quite the multi-tasker, having tried your hand out at acting, song writing, producing, arranging and managing your own music label. How do you juggle all these different aspects?

You forgot about being a dad, which is the most important and time-consuming thing! There is plenty of time throughout the day. Every one of us has the opportunity to create whatever we want in life. There are always obstacles, but your brain and consciousness will provide you with answers and the energy to do many things.

I enjoy doing many things and assembling brilliant teams of creatives. It is an amazing thing to see an idea of your own, or someone else's blossom into success. I have a passion for being alive. If I've been blessed with the opportunity to be alive, I want to seize the day and create and accomplish as many things as I can, all while contributing to the greater good.

These answers may seem new-agey, spiritual or religious, but this is what I feel and believe to be true. If I can inspire someone with my music, creations, or examples, and they in turn do the same for someone else, then the effect is exponentially positive and that is the goal.

So, how has fatherhood changed you?

Fatherhood is a lot of fun. I learn as much or more from my kids than I teach them. If I'm busy, and working hard on a song or project to the point of obsession, I will sometimes not want to give myself a break to be with my kids and play with them or do their homework with them.

I will think to myself, "Ok, I have to go get my kids and hang out with them." Without fail, being with them will re-energize me, cause me to reflect on what is real and what isn't, and cause me to prioritize my thinking.

Undoubtedly, time with them cultivates my intuition. These things happen WITHOUT FAIL! It is the greatest secret and the best thing in the world. And, it's free! Watching them grow and develop their personalities is the best thing ever.

What do your kids think of your music?

If my kids hear my music on the radio, they don't think it's a big deal at all. They like my songs, but they couldn't care less. I love it! I don't pull the star trip with fans, and try to be as much like the guy next door as I can, but I'm always trying to impress my kids.

I will turn the radio up and say, "That's daddy on the radio guys!" trying to brag, and they're both like 'whatever..." I guess you're never cool when you're their dad. No matter what! [laughs]

You'll be launching a new venture called iamMedia to distribute media and music content in an unconventional format. How do you see the music industry shaping out in years to come?

I think music needs to be more readily and easily available in the retail market-space, and that's what iamMEDIA is going to do. I believe that the product needs to become more of an experience than just the music.

Videos, interviews, more content, and an online experience need to be included. Artists will need to work more in tandem with corporate sponsors and media forums to provide the consumer and fans with a more solid experience. It's all about giving them more bang for their buck.

Finally, the elevator pitch: In one sentence, sum up why people should check out Emotional High.

The album is all about feel-good fun, and I'm sure listeners will personally be able to relate to more than one song.

Craig's blunder with Mariella and Nick & Drew

Thanks 2 NICK&NESSAFAN at Nickfanatic for finding this

SOURCE
So we sit down in business class for the flight to Atlanta. Me (Craig), being super observant, notice Nick Lachey (mostly recognized from the band 98 degrees and his televised marriage to Jessica Simpson) and and his brother Drew sitting behind us. I do not really get star struck, but I have to admit I did think twice about the most appropriate way to say hello. So I thought it would be fun to have him take a picture with Mariella. I thought I would surprise Mariella by setting up a photo with Mr. Lachey. My wife loves surprises, right? So Mariella gets up to go the the bathroom and I go have chat with Nick. I introduced myself and he was very polite and introduced himself to me. I shot the breeze with him. I asked him about the trip he was taking and I told him about our global walkabout and some of our plans along the way. Then I was was rather forward about requesting a quick photo with Mariella. Out of respect I asked if we could take a quick photo as soon as we stepped off the plane. He kindly agreed. So I did not tell Mariella about the photo op. We end up landing in Atlanta and I grab my camera and tell Mariella as we are walking off the plane, I said, “wait here Nick said he would take a photo with you.” Mariella was not impressed with this idea and kept walking. I thought she would get a kick out of the surprise photo op. She was did not. Unfortunately or fortunately Nick and Drew stepped off the plane and were quickly escorted out the nearest exit away from the rest of the passengers. We did not get the photo! And sure enough there were some younger ladies from further back in the plane in a rush to track down Mr. Lachey. So Mariella and I continue to learn about each other. Mental note Craig, don’t set up surprise photos opps. with stars and not tell your wife about it.

Robin Leach "Did my Innocent Question About A Ring Cause N&V Split"?

When MTV personality, actress and model Vanessa Minnillo turned up in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, I had to ask where was boyfriend Nick Lachey because she’d flown in solo. After a three-year romance, rumors about a breakup had begun circulating.

Vanessa shot them down when I asked gently: “There will always be rumors and rumblings, but we are still together.” She went on to explain that the only reason she was on her own was because Nick was attending a long-standing party planned for a friend’s 40th birthday.

However, just 48 hours ago, it was confirmed that the couple had called it quits. Her PR rep said: “They have split amicably but remain good friends who still greatly care for each other.” Now I’m being incorrectly blamed for sparking the split!

Let me make it clear that I innocently complimented her about the giant ring she was sporting on her left hand middle finger. The sparkler had been loaned to her for a fashion show appearance at the Palazzo by a jeweler at a recent convention here.

I reported that 28-year-old Vanessa laughed back at me: “This is 5 carats, but next time when it moves one finger over to my fourth, it will be 10 carats. However, I’m always the bridesmaid and never the bride.” Either she had an inkling that things weren’t going well enough to get married or maybe she hoped to prod along 35-year-old Nick. They met in 2006 during the video shoot for his hit “What’s Left of Me,” which is about his divorce from Jessica Simpson.

It turned out maybe to have been both because the ending came suddenly by mutual agreement this week, and now the gorgeous beauty is single yet again. No Mrs. Lachey for her in a wedding book. I hope Vanessa will find Mr. Right who will go for the big bauble -- and if not, I’d happily spring for it with her!

I loved him as a kid & teenager growing up. He will live in my heart forever as he once looked in Thriller. Probably one of the Best Video/Movies that I have or will ever see. Hopefully now he will get the Peace that has eluded him for years...

Rest In Peace Michael you will always be the King Of Pop. Without you and the Jackson 5, who paved the way for many acts to come. 98 Degrees & New Kids on the Block may never have existed...

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo Breakup

SOURCE

June 23, 2009
by:

Nick Lachey

Another one bites the dust! After three years of dating, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have called it quits.

"They have amicably split but remain good friends who still greatly care for one another," Minnillo's rep confirmed to People.

In recent months Nick and Vanessa both denied breakup rumors, but it obvious their relationship was on the rocks.

Sources tell Hollyscoop that on June 17, 2009, which was their last public outing, Nick and Vanessa were spotted with Vanessa’s friends at Hollywood hotspot Myhouse for the JetBlue / VH1 event.

Sources tell Hollyscoop exclusively that the two got into a huge fight at the club in their VIP section where Vanessa "was seen yelling at Nick and pointing her finger in his face."

Our source added, "At one point the two kissed and made up, but it was obvious that Nick was over the scene and wanted to go home, while Vanessa wanted to drink and dance with her girlfriends."

"Shortly after the couple got into another heated argument, Nick calmly told Vanessa he was leaving. Nick left with his bodyguard while Vanessa hit the dance floor with her girlfriends.

"She was dancing and having a great time and didn't seem to care that Nick had left or that they had just gotten into an argument," the source tells Hollyscoop exclusively.

Vanessa showed up to the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie premiere in Los Angeles sans Nick on Monday night, and on Tuesday night she showed up to a Reebok launches Easytone event solo again. Nick seemed to be over the whole celebrity scene, while Vanessa seems to just want to have fun and mingle with her girlfriends.

Vanessa got a little bit of career boast from the relationship, so all she needs to do now is show to every red carpet event and take advantage of every PR opportunity and she'll do just fine. Dating another celebrity won't hurt either. Are you surprised by the split?

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo Call It Quits

SOURCE

I wasn't planning on posting this here until it was pretty official. But it seems that its flying out of some pretty reliable sources at this time. Sorry that they had to end...But Seeing as now Nick is single!!!
HI NICK!!! :) lol

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have split, People magazine confirmed Wednesday.

The couple began dating in 2006 after Lachey's divorce from pop singer Jessica Simpson. But in recent months, they have been subject to rumors of an imminent breakup.

Still, Minnillo had previously denied any reports of problems in the relationship, telling the magazine earlier this month that the relationship was "very much still on."

However, reps for both confirmed that the relationship was over.

Minnillo’s rep said, “They have amicably split but remain good friends who still greatly care for one another.”
