Nick Lachey is sooooo done talking about ex-wife Jessica Simpson’s battle of the bulge - he didn’t even know President Obama had weighed in on it!

“I hadn’t heard that he had,” Lachey told the Track. “I’m not familiar with the interview.”

Well, let’s recap, shall we?

Earlier this month, in a sitdown with NBC’s Matt Lauer, the prez was informed that he was Photoshopped out of a family portrait that wound up on the cover of US magazine . In the spot where Barack had formerly been was a big picture of Jess in her now-infamous fat pants.

“Look what they did, they took you off the cover,” Matt said incredulously.

“It’s a little hurtful,” the prez replied.

“You got replaced by Jessica Simpson,” Lauer added.

“Yeah, who’s in a weight battle, apparently,” Barack observed.

So, Nick, how do you think your ex looks?

“I’ve got no comment on that either,” he said.

Well, why dwell on the past when you’ve got an album to promote? The ex-“Newlywed” was in town the other day to play a few songs from his new “Coming Up For Air” CD to some lucky listeners in the MIX 98.5 Mix Lounge .

“I’m very proud of it,” Lachey said. “It’s never easy to compare albums. I love them all in different ways because they represent where you are in life. This one is a different place and a different time. I’m very proud and happy with it.”

Lachey said he’d never say never when asked if he’d reunite with his old group, 98 Degrees . After all, the New Kids on the Block, who started the whole boy-band thing, have just blazed a new trail for man bands.

“The New Kids were gone for quite a while and that really made a difference,” he said. “I don’t think it would be as impactful as if, say, they had just been gone for five years. They did it right, they stayed away a long time and people missed them.”

Nick, who is BFFs with Arizona Cardinals backup QB Matt Leinart, said he knows Matt’s former USC backup, Matt Cassel, a little bit.

“We hang out at the Kentucky Derby every year,” he said.

Although they haven’t discussed it, Lachey said he’s sure Leinart is very happy for Cassel, who just signed a $14 million franchise deal.

“They’re still dear friends,” he said.

Lachey was also here to promote his upcoming gig on MTV’s new “Centerstage,” a reality-show version of the old “Fame” movie that takes place at Nick’s alma mater, the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati. He’s also guest-starring, as himself, on an upcoming episode of “One Tree Hill.”

But the TV show Lachey would most like to appear on is not any teen soap - it’s Showtime’s serial-killer drama, “Dexter.”

“It’s my favorite show,” he said. “I’d love to be strapped down, Saran-Wrapped and cut wide open. See if you can make that happen . . .”

Consider it done, Nick!
