Nick Lachey, who helped launch the supergroup 98 Degrees, is working with V8 on a national program to help feed those in need.

Early in life, Nick Lachey wanted a career in sports medicine, but he couldn't dismiss his special musical talents so easily. While a student at Miami University in Ohio, he helped launch the supergroup 98 Degrees. Now out on his own, Lachey continues to compose and perform worldwide, and is also an accomplished actor with many TV credits.

Currently, he is working with V8, which has teamed with Feeding America's National Produce Program to launch the Make Every Serving Count campaign. This program will help provide more than 30 million servings of fresh vegetables and fruit to those in need. Purchasing V8 100 percent juices and Campbell's V8 soups through February helps support the brand's $1 million donation.

Q: How can the average person help Feeding America?

A: By supporting the V8 brand and enjoying the products, anyone can help. V8 has new soups on the shelves, plus the Fusion blends of juices, so it's easy to find something delicious for the entire family.

Q: You're in great shape, muscular and tough. How do you watch your diet to stay fit?

A: In a daily diet, moderation is the key. You hear that all the time, but it's true. I basically stick to a lower carb diet, but don't feel guilty about having occasional snacks. I have a gym at my home, and I make time for regular workouts.

Q: Tell us about the wildest food presentation you've ever seen at a Hollywood party.

A: You see some incredible ice sculptures at a lot of parties, and many very clever ways to present food. But parties at The Playboy Mansion are the most incredible for the food and the people that serve it. Just use your imagination on that one!

Q: Do you sign autographs when you're out dining? And do fans ever want to buy your meals or taste what you've ordered?

A: I am honored when fans ask for autographs and photos. At a restaurant, however, if they come up to the table I do ask them to wait until we finish our meals. Fans may send over a drink to the table, and that's very kind. Also, they know I like to drink Yoo-Hoo and Miller Lite, so at shows they will bring them for me to have backstage.

Q: Tell us about your favorite comfort foods.

A: I can't eat it every day, but I am a huge ice cream fan. I also love Snyder's pretzels, and always put my thin mint Girl Scout cookies in the freezer.

V8 7-Ingredient Chili

2 pounds ground turkey

1 large onion, chopped (about 1 cup)

2 tablespoons chili powder

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

3 1/2 cups V8 100 percent Vegetable Juice (regular or low sodium)

1 small green pepper, chopped (about 1/2 cup)

2 cans (about 15 ounces each) red kidney beans, rinsed and drained

Cook the turkey, onion, chili powder and cumin in a 4-quart saucepan over medium-high heat until the turkey is well browned, stirring often. Add the V8, pepper and beans to the saucepan and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
