So do you want to Nick Lachey get the Byung-Hyun Kim treatment on the mound at Cheney Stadium?

Or do you want to see a trio of newspaper hacks swing for the fences and fall to the dirt?

Either way, it's for a good cause.

Lachey is heading to Tacoma this weekend to headline a celebrity softball game at Cheney on Sunday. It's one event during an entire weekend of fundraising for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Tacoma General Hospital.

But, really, enough about Nick. I'm sure you're really coming out to watch your three TNT staffers hard at work: Ryan "I'm one of three people from Montana who knows what a baseball is" Divish, Doug "I'm gonna play in a sweater vest" Pacey and yours truly -- Scott "I played an entire season of Little League and got one hit" Fontaine.

First pitch is at 10:30 a.m. General admission tickets are $15.

And remember: It's for the kids.

It’s that time of year when celebrities converge on Cheney Stadium all in the name of raising funds for a great cause. This Sunday, September 21st, Rainiers Co-Owner Nick Lachey will once again headline the Multicare Celebrity Softball Game presented by Windermere Professional Partners that will help raise money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Tacoma General Hospital. Last year, a weekend of events helped raise more than $750,000 for the NICU and MultiCare Health Foundation.

“I’m excited to get back up to Cheney Stadium and once again, take part in the Celebrity Softball Game,” said Lachey. “This is always a great event and besides having loads of fun, we’re hoping to raise a lot of money for a great cause.”

Fans will have a chance to catch Lachey, fellow celebrities, and local media representatives Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. when the softball game kicks-off. Among the celebrities currently signed up for the game are Cris Judd, Jeff Nelson, and Aimee Wright. But you do not need to wait until Sunday to lock up your tickets to the game.

Tickets to the softball game are already available online (TacomaRainiers.com & TacomaCelebrityWeekend.org.) Box Seats (which include a barbeque, parking, a special gift, and designated seat in field/row box) are available for $40. General admission tickets can be purchased for $15.

“The celebrity softball game has become a great annual event and an amazing fundraiser,” said Michael Shields, Director of Special Events and Corporate Relations for MultiCare Health System. “Having Nick and all the celebrities out there helps raise awareness about the importance Tacoma General’s NICU plays in our community.”
