Nick Lachey is making good on his promise to have his victorious “Clash of the Choirs” singers perform on his new album.

The “Team Cincinnati” singers – formerly known as “Team Lachey” – will record one song for Lachey’s album here within the next week.

The 1991 School for Creative & Performing Arts graduate and former College Hill resident had promised the 20 vocalists that they could appear on his next album, if they won NBC’s week-long reality competition in December.

The choir’s background track to Lachey’s lyrics was arranged by Stephen Zegree, the world renowned jazz conductor and Western Michigan University professor who wrote the “Team Lachey” arrangements for the NBC show.

“It’s really going to be a great song. It has an unbelievable vibe,” says Chuck Merk, a choir member and Lakota West High School teacher.

The choir has been rehearsing the music for several weeks.
“The air in rehearsal has been simply electric,” says Kevin Chamberlain, Team Cincinnati president.

Choir members would not say if Lachey will be here for the recording session. They have been “sworn to secrecy” about the album, Chamberlain says.

Lachey has been busy this summer working on a pilot for a possible “Fame”-like MTV series about SCPA students, and preparing to host ABC’s “High School Musical: Summer Session” talent search premiering July 20 (8 p.m., Channels 9, 22).

“With Nick Lachey’s busy schedule, we are extremely appreciative of the generosity he has shown us,” Chamberlain says.
