Washington High School graduate Tim DeBos has made a successful hobby promoting national performing acts in the Massillon and surrounding areas.

This year, he will bring P.M. Dawn to the Lions Lincoln Theatre for a July 12 concert.

“It’s been a successful hobby,” said DeBos, a full-time employee of Coca-Cola. “I definitely see the support in Massillon. That’s where I want to do it.”

DeBos, who dabbled in promoting earlier in his career, brought Massillon-native Jeff Timmons, formerly of the boy band 98 Degrees, and “New Kid on the Block” Jordan Knight to the Lincoln in February 2006 and returned Timmons to the city for a concert at his alma-mater, Washington High School, in January 2007.

After successfully promoting those two concerts, DeBos was contacted by the Canton Legends to help organize the Brooke Hogan concert last summer.

DeBos is passionate about his hobby and providing activities for the residents of Massillon.

“That’s why I was banging my fists so hard to secure the contract (with the Lions),” he said. “I could have easily taken this to Canton, but I didn’t want to. Massillon is my home. I think they (Lions) could turn (the theatre) into a scene. The kids (of the area) have nothing to do.”

DeBos said he hopes to be able to attract national acts to the Massillon area at least once or twice a year.

“I think I can handle the stress level, at least once a year,” he joked.
