Nick Lachey Jokes Son's First Day of Kindergarten Is the Singer's 'Last Day for Public Kisses'

The hardest thing Nick Lachey might have to do? Watch his little boy grow up so quickly.
On Wednesday, the 98 Degrees frontman and wife Vanessa Lachey saw their oldest child — son Camden John, who turns 6 next month — off to his first day of kindergarten.
Sharing a series of photographs presumably taken by Vanessa, Nick, 44, posed with a smiley Camden while the latter wore a sports-themed backpack and a blue-and-khaki school uniform.
The second image showed the father-son pair sharing a sweet smooch, while the third featured a cringing Camden adorably pushing his dad’s face away.
“My high & low for today: my son’s first day of [kindergarten], definitely a HIGH! Apparently also my last day for public kisses. Swipe ➡️😩 #proudpapa,” Nick wrote on the post.

Mom Vanessa couldn’t help sharing her own tribute to her little boy as he went off to begin his new academic adventure, posting a photo of herself hugging Camden and a second of him posing next to a sign that read, “Camden’s 1st day of kindergarten,” alongside the date.
“It’s official, my first born is now off to his first day of Kindergarten,” Vanessa, 37, began her lengthy caption. “I’ll never forget our first skin to skin, his first hiccup, his first social smile, his first word (Dog), his first joke, his first ‘I Love You, Mama’ and now his first day of school. I still have so much to look forward to, his first serious question, his first girlfriend, his first time driving, his first broken heart (she better watch out!), his first day on his own in the real world and the first time he realized how we did it ALL for him and he says ‘Thank You.’ “
“Even if he doesn’t, I am so proud of this little guy and can’t wait to see the man he will become,” the mom of three added. “Camden John Lachey, the world is your oyster! To the moon and back and back again!!! Forever & Always …  my baby boy!!! 💫❤️💋”
Ahead of Camden’s first day of school, the family of five (which also includes the spouses’ son Phoenix Robert, 20 months, and daughter Brooklyn Elisabeth, 3½) enjoyed a sunny vacation together.
“Soaking up the last few days of freedom before Kindergarten & Pre-School!!!” Vanessa captioned a photo of Camden with his arm around his little sister. “These two are going to be trouble in high school together … I can feel it! ❤️”
Alongside a snapshot of their entire brood, she wrote, “Missing THIS! Take us back! 🤪❤️ #SundayFunday blues … “

What Did 98 Degrees Get Up To After The Band? Politics, Stripping And Transit

SOURCE
By Maija Kappler

The members of 98 Degrees, are pictured circa 2000: Jeff Timmons, Justin Jeffre, Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey.

98 Degrees' place in North American boy band history isn't immediately obvious. They're nowhere near the top two spots, which are indisputably occupied by the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync, but they did successfully avoid the one-hit-wonder status that was fatal to groups like Hanson, LFO and BBMak.
The group put out the kind of music that was also being produced by a lot of other popular boy bands — namely, R&B- and Latin-inspired dance songs, and treacly romantic ballads about the power of love. Their best songs follow that winning formula: "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)" is an occasionally Spanish-language offer for the singer to "give you the time of your life," while the video for "I Do (Cherish You)" includes wedding dresses, sunsets, and lots of slow-motion gesturing.
They did go on a "nostalgia tour" in 2016, but have mostly just had a few one-off performances since they went on hiatus in 2002. But they're reuniting at this year's MMVAs, and so we did some digging to find out what they've been doing since their last MMVA appearance in 1999.

Nick Lachey

Nick Lachey was definitely the group's best-known member and was arguably considered the cutest, and saw his fame boosted by his relationship with Jessica Simpson. After the group split up, he released several solo albums and dabbled in TV shows like "Charmed" and "One Tree Hill." He has also competed on "Dancing With the Stars."
But after his split from Simpson, things got much weirder. In November 2016, he became the voice of the streetcar in his hometown of Cincinnati. But the Cincinnati Bell Connector, as the streetcar is called, is notoriously bad: it once collided with a bus and with a cement truck in two separate incidents on the same day. It's gotten to the point that the Cincinnati Enquirer, the city's newspaper, has published articles speculating that the streetcar might be cursed.
He and his brother Drew, also a member of 98 Degrees, opened a bar called Lachey's in Cincinnati in 2015. (The project was documented on an A&E reality show called "Lachey's: Raising the Bar.") The bar closed earlier this year, several months after an employee was shot in the face. (She survived the attack.)
In 2015, he invested in a campaign to legalize weed in Ohio for medicinal and recreational use. Had it passed, Forbes speculated that he might have become a "marijuana kingpin," but it didn't.

Drew Lachey

Like his brother, Drew also competed on "Dancing With the Stars," and was the winner of season 2. He's hosted and competed on a number of reality shows, including "Overhaulin'" (where people make over other people's cars), and he beat Kristi Yamaguchi on an episode of the HGTV room-design series, "Showdown." He also appeared in several musicals on Broadway, including "Rent" and "Spamalot."

Justin Jeffre

In 2005, Jeffre ran for mayor of Cincinnati. Because he announced his candidacy on April 1, several people thought it was an April Fools' joke. He wasn't the first (quasi) celebrity to enter Cincinnati's mayoral race: you may remember that infamous talk-show host Jerry Springer was the city's mayor from 1977 to 1982.
Jeffre told a Bryan, Ohio newspaper that he wouldn't tour with 98 Degrees if he were elected mayor, but that the group would make another album if he didn't win. Maybe people were really missed the band, because Jeffre got just 708 votes in the primary — about two per cent. Critics were a bit harsh: Tim Burke, the chair of Ohio's Hamilton County Democratic Party, told E! Online that Jeffre "assumed he was far better known than he was," and that his campaign seemed to consist of "huge — and I mean huge — yard signs."

Evidently, he wasn't done with politics: in 2011, he was one of 11 people arrested for trespassing during an Occupy Cincinnati protest. "I spent the night in jail, and it was not fun," he told reporters. "But it was the place to be if you are standing up for free speech."

Jeff Timmons

In 2011, Timmons joined the Las Vegas all-male dance revue Chippendales for a three-week contract. "We broke box office records in Vegas and I thought, 'What if we do this more mainstream, step up the production, hype it up a lot more, utilize our resources and draw attention to this sexy taboo brand?'" he told E! He did just that, and created his own all-male dance revue, Men of the Strip. In 2014, a "docu-soap" about the group appeared on TV, which Timmons described as a mix of "Magic Mike" and Sex and the City." In one promotional image, he's shirtless and draped in an American flag; in another, he's shirtless and holding an axe. If that sounds appealing to you, keep an eye out for the next time the group hits the road — in 2014, they went on a 42-city tour.

98 Degrees Performance MMVAs

98 Degrees turned up the heat dial at the 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs, making everyone’s hearts melt with their smooth vocals we oh so love and remember!

This may be a 2018 award show, but 98 Degrees gave the iHeartRadio MMVAs a much needed dose of ’90s and early 2000s nostalgia! The four group members — Jeff TimmonsJustin Jeffre and brother duo Nick and Drew Lachey — took the stage in Toronto, Canada on Aug. 26 to perform their classics in matching black leather. And we’re so happy with their song choices of “Because Of You,” “The Hardest Thing,” and “Give Me Just One Night.” We swooned over their contemporary pop and R&B vocals, which gave us a chance to slow down (just a tiny bit) after hype sets from artists like Bebe Rexha, 28 and Meghan Trainor, 24!
The four rocked their signature coordination on the red carpet tonight, all in suits. Nick and Jeff kept it more casual in head-to-toe black with loose-fit blazers, while Justin and Drew suited up in tuxedo jackets. Nick even admitted on the red carpet that they “stepped it up” for this MMVAs appearance, and we can tell! All were just as dashing as they were in 1996, when 98 Degrees first formed. The last six years must have really brought the men back together! After a hiatus from 2002 to 2012, 98 Degrees reunited and have been returning to dozens of stages. We most recently covered their appearances at the 2018 Miss USA Competition on May 21, and the talented men even took over HollywoodLife’s Instagram Story last Thanksgiving at the 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade! They were such a delight. So of course, we were happy to see them delight even more fans tonight!
But 98 Degrees isn’t just a throwback group. They’ve been releasing new material since 2013! For the group’s 20th anniversary, they released a Let It Snow album in 2017, just in time for Christmas. The four-man dream team will even be going on their holiday-themed 98° At Christmas 2018 tour on Nov. 1. Well, their voices definitely make us feel oh so warm and cozy!
Now, let us go back to partying like it’s 1998 again. We love nothing more than handsome men dancing in synchronization!

Nick Lachey Is Helping Kids Learn To Read & You Can Too

There are some pretty shocking statistics out there when it comes to literacy in the U.S. Forty-five million Americans read at or below a fifth-grade level, according to Parents. In an effort to raise awareness of this problem, Nick Lachey is helping kids learn to read. For Lachey it starts with cracking open a copy of Secret Pizza Party and extends to involving others in outreach efforts to combat illiteracy.
While many of us picture childhoods filled with cute little book shelves and cozy story-times, literacy rates have long been an issue for adults who missed out on early reading. The literacy rate in the U.S. hasn't improved in a decade, according to the Huffington Post, and the National Assessment of Adult Literacy reported that 14 percent of adult Americans read at a “below basic” literacy level and 29 percent only at a “basic” reading level. These and other shocking numbers are motivation to do something about poor reading levels across the country.

In an attempt to raise awareness, Nick Lachey partnered with the nonprofit The Literacy Project and long-time champion of literacy, Pizza Hut, to read with children at his local elementary school who may miss out on regular story time. Lachey, a father of three, told Parents that reading isn't as commonplace in some homes as it is in his own. Rather than let those children suffer from lack of access to reading material, he took matters into his own hands.
